Hey,
I've been wargaming for about 8 years now, starting with 40k and playing Mordheim, BFG, Necromunda and Inquisitor. Havent played much at all in the past 2 years, and a discussion with the person I normally play against led us to decide to start warhammer, and it was between Zombie Pirates and Ogre Kingdoms.
Wanted a force that wouldnt take years to get together, so ogres it is (yet I balk at the prospect of 60+ gnoblars!).
I had bought a leadbelcher regiment last week on ebay in order to convert up some ogryn for 40k, plus I just loved the miniatures...
So I went into GW yesterday to pick up the OK army book, and mentioned that I was just getting into fantasy...the guy in there asked if I'd like an example game, I said thatd be great...
He got the Ogres from the cabinet and set them up against the empire that were already on the table. Gave me a quick run through, I am hooked. Bought the Battalion set just after that.
I need some advice on how to arm regiments, what to give characters and general tactics. I'm a Fantasy noob, but I think I could pick it up pretty fast!
----------
Heres what my list is looking like at the moment:
Bruiser (probably from the Ironguts)
Butcher (converted from a standard bull)
3 Ironguts
2 Leadbelchers
2 Leadbelchers
4 Bulls
4 Bulls
20 Gnoblars (some are to be converted into Luck Gnoblars, Tooth Gnoblars and so on...)
2 Gorgers (Converted from old school Rat Ogres)
----------
I need general advice on force composition, whether you would change anything, magic weapons/arcane items/etc. for the bruiser and butcher. Also, where you would put the butcher and bruiser (I'm thinking bruiser in ironguts, and butcher in one of the bulls units). Also, how about standards/bellowers/unit champions? Not sure what the benefits are in warhammer.
I have one bull left over, he will be travelling to Mordheim, as I'm taking part in a new campaign at my local GW. After that, he'll become a maneater, along with the proper Mordheim one (which I'll be collecting from my parents house when I get a chance and rebasing!).
Thanks in advance for any help! My ogres are currently getting their shoes glued on (don't you wish they were cast on?!) and stuck to bases before I clean up moldlines and stuff. Then I'm going to do all their bases (are belong to us) and see what your advice is!
