Can you cast a spell in play again?

original thread ↗

So here is the situation. Slaughtermaster gets Toothcracker off on some Ironguts. My opponent fails to dispell it in his magic phase. When my magic phase comes around again can I cast Toothcracker on a unit of Bulls while keeping it on the Ironguts? Or can I only have one instance of Toothcraker, from the Slaughtermaster, in play at any one time?
Just because you can't play a phase of the game well does not mean you shouldn't play that phase at all.
Gut Magic buffs are not Remains in Play spells, so, yes. In fact, you can cast it again on the same unit.

... and again... and again.... 6 times per game per butcher/slaughtermaster.

I'm not the Slaughterman,
I'm the Slaughterman's son.
And I'll do the killing
'Till the Slaughterman comes
No not the same unit, a different unit while the spell is still in play on the original unit.

Yes, you can. The only limitations on gut magic are that a caster cannot cast the same spell multiple times in the same turn, and that if another caster wishes to do so it's more difficult.
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

And some shall call him Tim... and this one Conor. This one is Fluffy, Tim's right hand gnob.

so wait....can you just start stackin up s or t?
Yup.

This is all thanks to the errata.
But not S AND T on the same unit at the same time. Each unit may only be affected by one gut buff at a time, successfully casting a new one on it cancells the last one.

Incorrect.  Check the FAQ/errata document, there are rules which have been removed from the game.

Could someone show me pages and parts of the erreta to back this up in my games. Not getting to play like this with my game group.
Thanks
P6 OK Codex- 5th Paragraph under 'Casting Gut Magic' header:
Unlike remains in play spells, a Butcher may have more than one Gut Magic spell in play at any one time, although no unit may have more than one Gut Magic spell in play upon it at any one time.

OK Errata - Under the heading 'Gut Magic, Casting Guy Magic"
... Ignore the 5th paragraph

I played the Watchtower scenario over the weekend against O & G.  I had a unit of bulls in the watchtower that ended the game with +3 to toughness and +3 to strength.  It was a most wonderful thing and it allowed me to win the game.  Of course, I had only one unit (of 3 bulls) in the tower on the last turn.  The other unit on the table was 5 bulls that were running from a failed combat.  That was out of 3000 pts of ogres.  I was able to hold the tower all but 1 turn.
Ok it seems the answer was in the Rulebook all the time.
P.36 Remain in Play Spells.
...The wizard can continue to cast other spells (though not the same remains in play spell in subsequent turns)....
So it seems that an Ogre caster cannot have two Trollguts in play at the same time. This is not preventing another caster from casting Trollguts nor, it seems, does it prevent the stacking of the same spell from a different caster on one unit ie: two Toothcrackers for a total of +2 Toughness.
Just because you can't play a phase of the game well does not mean you shouldn't play that phase at all.
BUT, Ogre spells are not RIP spells, they would actually be considered of the "lasting more than one turn" variety.

Also, Augmentation (Gut Magic) spells are culmulative meaning they stack. The only exception here is yu cannot cast the same spell multiple times by the same caster in a single magic phase. Magic phase 1 - +1 T. Magic Phase 2 - cast it again add another +1 T for a total of +2
Incorrect.
Ogre Kingdosm FAQ 1.1 pg.3 Are Gut Magic spells treated as Remain in Play spells cast with a power level of 7? Answer: Yes.
Just because you can't play a phase of the game well does not mean you shouldn't play that phase at all.
When did that come out? I'll have to check it out.
That is with regards to dispelling... it is treated as a RIP with power level 7.

It does not say Gut magic is RIP.

If it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck. Its a duck.
Really, could you not be bothered to read the entire question? Was it too long? I even quoted the relevant point-

Spells marked 'remains in play' stay in effect indefinitely when cast etc.

Gut magic spells do not have 'remains in play' in their description. Sounds like a duck, looks like a duck, but it's actually a goose.

... so does a goose, but a goose is a goose not a duck...

Eg you read my mind.
