Fedtegrevens Log O' Fun!

original thread ↗

Finally got around to do this!

Here goes!

Been into this hobby for quite some time, but never had much of a standard as to painting and converting. The last couple of years, I've been more into the paintin' and modellin' part of WH.

Currently I'm working on my OK army, alongside my new army of Beastmen.
My very first army was Orcs & Goblins - not many models painted at all, but a couple of pretty cool conversions in there.

This Gnoblog is to show some of my stuff.

So let's begin with my Tyrant:

Zog the One-eyed Horngut

Next a couple of Butchers:

My newest... fiendishly stole some ideas from various places/people... sorry about the lighting though!

Posted this one some time ago... but here it is again!

Finally, for now... My newest conversion: Bull -> Hunter

Ogres are really easy to convert!

Next couple of projects

Slave Giant
Giant -> Cygor
various bits and greenstuff -> Chaos Spawns
Painting my converted Pump Wagon

Small preview of pump wagon:

So there it is. Hope You'll enjoy the pics and ramblings... Will return with some more miniatures and such.

good conversions could do with a bit more work on the paint job, more highlights and shadow possibly add a wash
thanks... Trying to improve my painting skills... they do need a lot of work!

i love the pose on the hunter!
he looks very dynamic, and theres so much movment in there!

what size is the hunters base? i think ive mis-based mine on somthing to small D:
Actually I made the base from 2 cavalry bases glued together - and then a small piece of wood for the edges. The Base is the same size as the Hunter base, 50mm (just didn't have one, so I had to make one  ;) )

So...

Went to the fair city of Kolding today (south eastern part of the Danish mainland - or Jutland). Would you believe that I had to drive for half an hour, just to get to at shop the deals in GW? Ohh well...

Got myself a new Giant, some wound counters and a tuskgor chariot.

I have something very special in store for the Giant. A Cygor...

So this evening I sat myself down with a fresh box o' giant parts and a LOT of greenstuff.
Now, a Cygor has one eye and some horns. It's big and hurls menhirs around. That's pretty much what I'm taking into account when making Ol' One-eye!

So far (and sorry about the crappy pics. Cheap digital cam... :x):

Had to "redo" his right hand, because GW don't make no empty right hands for giants... Anyway... He's supposed to hold another boulder/rock/menhir in his right hand... will try to make it look like he's about to throw it  :D

As my Cygor "hardens", I'm working on a Chaos Spawn... In these "economical crisis times" - a penny (or Krone) saved, is a penny earned... So I made him mostly of spare parts from a giant and an spare ogre body - and some greenstuff.
Started painting him this evening - dunno when I'll be done, but I guess you can see where I'm going:

I have another Spawn in production with a minotaurs head (no horns) and four mino arms (no hands) and again, lot's of greenstuff. This one's gonna look a bit like a turtle... Yes I know... But it's a Spawn, it's supposed to look weird  ;)

Thats it for now! As always, comments, recommendations, critique and such is very welcome!

A small update on the Cygor-project!

Began sculpting a lot of hair on the bugger! His entire lower body will be covered in hair - he's gonna look like a cross between a satyr, a cyclops and a minotaur.
Ahh yes, the best thing about Chaos conversions... anything goes  :D

New Pics:

This time I used my trusted ol' webcam... so the pictures should be a bit better!

quick question...

What would be the appropriate base-size for a Jabberslythe?? I'm guessing 50x50... :?

the eye will look more realistic should you put it inbetween the two eye lids like a human eye as opposed to one popping out.
WiP update...

Cygor's coming along nicely... Took your advise @jonnyandbex and "shaved off some of his eyeball :D
And you're right... it looks better now.
Furthermore i've added fur to his legs, a sizeable beard, and a pretty thick mane on his back.
Will probably start painting this weekend...

Also... Just started another project (well, had a lot of greenstuff and some free time on my hands :D)

Goes nicely with this poem

JABBERWOCKY
Lewis Carroll
(from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872)

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
  And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
  The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
  And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
  And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
  The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
  He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
  He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
  Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
  And the mome raths outgrabe.

There you go...
Will soon look into the much beloved Ogres again... Thinking of a new scraplauncher and a flying Tyrant :D

OK... Time for an update!

Been kinda busy at work - It's a full time job being a 1st-6th grade teacher ... But hey! It's also great fun!

Had some troubles choosing colors for the cygor - especially the eye was(is) somewhat of a pain in the *** !

Anyway:

Also... Have been working some more on the Jabberslythe:

Tried to arrange the wings and arms, to make it look like its turning hard left (maybe snatching someone  :D)
It may be a bit hard to see in the pics... will make better ones... I promise

The main inspiration was (besides the poem) this picture:

A Jabberwocky concept by Michael Kutsche

As you can see....... not quite there yet

That's it for now... will return with some more WiP of Cygor and Jabberslythe!

Again; Thoughts, recommendations and such, will be very appreciated - Especially on the darned Cygor-eye  :|

thats coming along well the cygor is looking good looking forward to your next update
Love your jabbescythe project. Looks awsome :)

The hair on the back of the cygor is really good aswell, but i'm not quite digging the front. Something looks off..

Maybe it's because the hair in the frontis kind of comming of as being a beard insted of chesthair (on thefirst pic mainly).. Yeah, thats it.

You might wanna free the nipples. It's rare for any creature to have that amount og hair growing derectly on the nipples..

But the overall mode is really cool. Love the eye aswell. You really nailed that part.
The one who'll win the war, is the one with the bigger club

Ogres in 8th:     W-L-D:     32-11-1 [Latest games: 1750 against Lizardmen - win]

This here is my petgnoblar Gronni.
And this is his wierd friend zKotte, who no one really gets...
Thanks for the comments!

The Jabberslythe project is difficult... Couldn't get the head right, so I thought of something else.
While reviving my "Dark Corners of the Earth" game, I encountered this bugger:

found that the face was actually pretty cool and scary/nightmare(-ish) - so I'm trying it out.
Hopefully the Jabber will be ready for paint by the end of the week.

The Cygor, had some light eye-surgery - tried to make the eye look more like the eye of a goat.
Now, I haven't done anything about the chest - because I'm pretty happy with it as it is (will post some better pics soon) - the Cygor has a somewhat long beard.

On another note:
Anyone used or using Army Builder? Has it been updated to 8th ed.? and most importantly - is it worth using?
"You can just hang around outside in the sun all day, tossing a ball around, or you can sit at your computer and do something that matters!" - Eric Cartman

Sooooo! Gnoblog went into a standstill for... quite some time...

Anyway!

The Jabberslythe didn't really pan out. Still have it, and will post some pics soon. It's only been basecoated, but I guess I'm going for a very dark colour theme!

New Book... New Models...

What can I say? I got them... I love 'em!
Bought (due to the nice sale of a large space puppy force):
2 thundertusk/stonehorns - build one of each
2 Ironblaster/scraplauncher - already build the cannon, but not sure if I'm going for a scrappie or another cannon...
4 Mournfangs - Build and ready for paint... man those are AWESOME!
4 Sabertusks - Those particular models are utter C.R.A.P.  Finecast my big red A**. HUGE moldlines, bubbles, bad fittings... just horrible!
1 Firebelly - this finecast, however, was very beautiful! Love the model...
And magic cards...

Then got some stuff for my Beastmen Army:
1 Tuskgor Chariot
2 boxes of Ungors
2 boxes of Marauder Horsemen - gonna make them Centigors :-D

Yes.. I did get a very good price for my puppies :-D

Will be back shortly with some pics! Also of the finished Cygor.

I like the Jabberscythe! Maybe a thicker neck and he would be really cool looking! Don't give up on it though!
