Gnoblar Mountaineers

original thread ↗

This is an idea I've been toying with for awhile now, and due to insomnia finally decided to throw up here.  A lot of other people have come up with the idea of Gnoblars riding goats, and this is my spin on the notion:

Gnoblar Mountaineers 8pts per model (Special Choice)
                           M   WS   BS   S   T   W   I   A   Ld
Gnoblar                   4   2   3   2   3   1   3   1      5
Goathead                   4   2   3   2   3   1   3      2   5
Mountain Goats   6   2   0   3   3   1   3   1   4
Unit Size/Type:  5+, Cavalry
Equipment:  hand weapons & sharp stuff
Options:  May have spears +1pt per model.  One model may be upgraded to a Goathead (so named for wearing a Mountain Goat skull as a helmet) +8pts.
Special Rules:  Largely Insignificant, Bicker, Sharp Stuff, Fast Cavalry, Mountain Goats (add +1 S on charge due to horns), Stubborn
UncleFlash sez:  the monster that eat you, win.
in the gnoblar horde army rules (white dwarf) it says that the gnoblar sometimes ride other gnoblar into battle these are called "pigback" riders - owing to the gnoblar sport of pig riding, threrfore it is much more likely that they would ride pigs (or gnobbos) into battle.

good idea though :D
if anyone is interested at the idea of RPGs please vote in this poll

I noticed that myself, and these are the rules I created for pig riders, or 'pig knights'

Pig riders 0-1: The renowned gnoblar riders of the southern slopes ride atop gutsy beasts, whose images are brandished on their shields as a tribute to their domination over their mounts fear.( in reality, the 'Pigs' are carefully shaved boars). Due to their prowess in battle, their leader, known by the name Dritty the Basha, has sold his services to those wishing to travel across the mountains of mourn(at no small fee of course )
This unit cannot be used in an army that includes pit fighters.

Pig riders: 17pts
Pig rider: m-4 ws-3 bs-4 s-3 t-3 i-3 a-1 w-1 ld-6
pig knights: m-4 ws-4 bs-4 s-3 t-4 i-3 a-1 w-1 ld-6
Nogga: m-4 ws-4 bs-4 s-3 t-3 i-3 a-2 w-1 ld-6
Dritty: m-4 ws-5 bs-4 s-3 t-4 i-4 a-3 w-2 ld-7
pig: m-7 ws-3 bs-0 s-3 t-4 i-3 a-1 w-1 ld-3

weapons and armour: hand weapons and sharp stuff (riders)
unit size: 5+

options: may upgrade the pig riders to the legendary pig knights for +2 pts
may give the riders shields for +1 point, light armour for +2 pts, and pig knights can bard their mounts for+2 pts.
may carry short bows for +1pt, and/or spears for +1 pt. Pig knights may carry lances for +3 pts.
may upgrade 1 rider to a Nogga for +8 pts
may upgrade 1 rider to a standard bearer for +4 pts
may upgrade 1 rider to a musician for +4 pts
Dritty may lead the unit for +35pts. He comes with all the equipment of a fully upgraded pig knight.

Special rules: Largely insignificant, bicker, tusker charge, thick hide(+2 to riders armour save instead of +1)
Awe: the sight of a regiment of pig knights is a truly inspiring sight to a gnoblar, emboldening their courage(in a way.) If a unit is within 6" of pig knights, it counts as stubborn. This rule remains in play, unless the unit is brought down to half their starting unit strength, or if the unit is fleeing.
Gnoblars can waaagh too.
looks good, I think the concept is real nice.

Yum! ...let's be clear on this. One of your kidneys? Or just one you happened to have lying around?
