Ogre Builder

Hey everyone!

Thanks to the Overtyrant for posting my new application on the downloads page.  I hope all of you guys (and gals) will try it out. 

There is a "ReadMe" worksheet on the program that should help explain a little bit more about how it works.

Also, there are a few bug fixes that I will be making very soon:
1. the big one! I didn't realize butchers could carry magic weapons, so I will make that happen!!
2. I still need to add options for Skragg, Greasus, and Ghark Ironskin.
3. a couple minor error check details, like making sure that if you take the Greyback Pelt, you don't take any Yhetees.

Please let me know of ANYTHING else you find that is inaccurate as soon as possible so we hopefully won't have to go through a million different versions.  Thanks everyone for your help!

I am new on the forum so I apologize if I give you feedback in the wrong place.
I tried your spreadsheet: awesome! Did not even know excel could do that. You must have spend crazy amount of time to do that. So thank you for letting us enjoy it freely.
I have one issue though. When I want to select a Tyrant the window that pops up is so big that I can't get to the bottom and therefore not select "Add to your list".
At the moment I mostly play at 1500, so I can do without Tyrant or go back to my pen and sheets

Thanks Hragged.  I made the newest version a little more friendly for those running lower monitor resolution.  If you still cannot see the bottom of the user forms, simply raise your monitor resolution just a little and you should be able to see everything.

Please be sure to let me know if anyone comes across any bugs.

Not sure if you're still looking at this page, but whenever I select "Luck Gnoblar" for my Bruisers, it's also selecting a "Lookout Gnoblar" as well, and I'm having to go in and fix the totals. Thought this was on the BSB only, but it's doing this across the board.

That's an obvious bug. Sorry about that. I will correct this and a few other minor things that people have mentioned and get an update rolled out to Hragged sometime this week. I guess you can tell that I never take pet gnoblars.

Rockin program! This makes it SO much easier to build an army. A question and observation:

Is there an easy way to edit a unit once you add to your army? especially when it comes to toying with those last few points or swapping items, i add a new unit and delete the original when i only want to add a tooth gnoblar for instance.

Also, I noticed the stats are lower for the maneater in the program than my army book - they're short 1 attack and 1 initiative. as if the maneaters arent already at a disadvantage!

none of the buttons are working at all.

Have you got the macros enabled?

I tried this out on office for mac and it didn't work.  No scripts are supported unless you update to office '11 and even then its a little squirrelly(sp?).

As far as I can tell it does not work on openoffice calc. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but the buttons doesn't seem to do anything. Do you got to have excel?

Yes you do have to have a macro-enabled workbook, so not open office.  Sorry about that!  I guess that is what I get for writing this program at work.

What a great tool, well done, makes list building so much easier. Is there any way of editing an extant line? If I just wanted to tweak one item do I have to re-create the entry again just with the omission of that item or can one re-open the checkbox window?

you can just delete that line and then redo that unit.  the unit build will remain saved on the user form, so you can just click the changes you want to make.

I must say this is awesome and really helpful.
Just one thing though, the FAQ says where the magic item is both in the BRB and the army book you use the points cost from the army book but on your tool its the BRB points cost.

Just gave it a try myself and would like to make a few remark ( note that I'm both a big Geeek and a Mac User).

• Doesn't work with LibreOffice, well I didn't enable macros , so I should probably give it another try.
• Then I tried in numbers with no luck
• I would have loved to have the possibility to verify my download with a checksum

Would it not make sense to have this application ported to a web application and be hosted on the stronghold ? I would end up dowloading PDF (and they could contain ads)

A web application would also be very welcome.

I really dont mind what format this takes, but the previous Ogre Army builder was one of the handiest tools I have ever used.

Even the way it printed the army list was perfect. I really hope someone can make this happen!

Slight hijack/ tangent but I'm about 75% done updating my ogre 8th details into my battlescribe catalogue (not originally mine just my version). Will post up here some place when ready for people to test.

Hey guys.  Thanks again for all the great feedback on the previous version.  I picked up the new army book this weekend and it looks like adding the new updates should be fairly painless.  I will try to work on that some next week and then we can get the link on the downloads page updated.  I have to admit I am not a real programmer so I really have no idea how I could make this application web-based so we could make it available for those without MS excel.  If anyone is a real IT guy, maybe we could figure something out.

Actually I like the excel version its useful if no web connection is available and I am really looking foreward to the update keep up the good work

Did this project ever get an update? Doesn't look like it but I wanted to make sure.

Just my opinion, if it's not going to be updated, it should be unstickied and removed from the Downloads page.
