Ogres of the Empire

original thread ↗

Well I just saw that its been four years since I last posted on here and thought I would change that.

Hello everyone!

I had stopped playing Warhammer when 7th ed came out and stuck almost exclusively to Warmaster. With the release of the new version and friends telling me how Ogres were now had some cool rules I tried a trial game and fell in love again! I now plan to pick up where I left off with my ogre army I started when they first came out (I painted three whole models!) and I am going to speed paint them to victory!

I really love the old school Imperial Ogres that wore outfits that were oversized parodies of Empire troopers. I want to attempt to try and make an ogre army that hails from the Empire. Not only do I want to Empire them up but I plan to speed paint them (something that I am not great at) I always take so long painting models that I never finish an army and the ones that do get finished always look fairly standard anyway. This army needs to get done and if it is, then it will have to be done quickly. Also I like my Ogres skin colour to be pink.... Thought I would mention that so you can click away in disgust.

Okay boring introduction over onto the pictures

These trials are to represent Ogre bulls the idea was to make them into over sized swords men.

I wanted them to have a fairly uniform feel to them (which goes against why I chose Ogres in the first place!?) as if they had been outfitted from a proper armoury. Each one has his ration of ale sword shield and pistol (I think of them like ogre sized derringers) oh and a floppy hat!

Just a Bull...

Hopefully my speed painting plan will work and I will get an army together before the lure of Skaven draws me away from the hold again... Wish me luck!
Brilliant job!
Clubs an' guts an' tusks. Best not get in our way, unless you wanna be eaten.
Oh yeah, and yer bones ground up to make our bread, hur hur....
I think the battle damage on the shield is brilliant.
Awesome!

you know, if you're having a scraplauncher you could buy the empire great canon or hell blaster and use that model for the launcher - the fluff would be that the ogres were given a canon by the soldiers of the empire who were so thankful a being assisted. however they let their gnoblars assemble the canon, by the time it was built successfully so many pieces were broken it was little more reliable than an ordinary scrappy...

... just a thought  :D

say hello to mr. Grummy my first pet isn't he cute.

dont look to my english... XD
Thanks alot for the encouragement guys!

I do have plans for a pair of scrap launchers. I built some of the mini Rhinox featured in the white dwarf article and was thinking of building some carts with giant morters on the back. This way they can easily be detached and I can use them as mini Rhinox again.

Unfortunatly barely 24 hours after my announcement to restart the army but I am already being tempted away... I was given a whole bunch of Fimir and was thinking of making an ogre army out of them. Damn my attention span!
the shields look ace how did you make them?
Hm, I hope you can bring yourself to doing more empire ogres. The pics look promising!
- 5 fighters and 1 trapper; the beginning of a vast gnoblar army. A gnoblar revolutions is at hand!
Nice conversion work, I'm looking forward to seeing more
