8th 2250 brainstorming

original thread ↗

Brainstorming on 8th., (constructive) comments very welcome  ;)

Tyrant, greatskull , Mawseeker , Talisman 4+ward(from new BRB), cathyan longsword,  heavy armour  = 306

Slaughtermaster, Gruts Sickle  =235

BSB, re-roll to hit banner (from new BRB), h. armour , CLS =222

Bruiser, 3xthiefstone, H.armour, GW=187

4 Ironguts, bellower, standard = 222

7 bulls, bellower, standard = 275

6 Ironguts, bellower standard = 318

9 trappers, Snarefinger = 60

2 Leadbelchers = 110

Scraplauncher = 165

2x gorger =150

Total 2250.

Thought is that Tyrant and BSB goes with 4 guts in 3x2, 6 guts run alone in 3x2, and 7 bulls + bruiser+slaughtermaster runs in 3x3 or 4x2+1 between the two other units, so as to utilize the slaughtermasters 12" range.
Slaughter master cast best buff on lone unit to give them MR, stubborn to generals or own unit, and heal self. Sickle is so one dice spam is possible and also the reason for the large bull unit. If lone guts get MR(2) all three units are effectively as safe from magic as possible.

Leadies are support for lone fliers, small unit of marchblocking scouts or a redirect if needed.
Scrappie is flank support as well as potential destruction.

Tyrant with I5 will hit first against most opponents and re-roll to hit, and due to his toughness+ward will take down most opponents in a challenge if they dont die in the first round =)
BSB with I4  will also hit first alot of times and can (try to) take out remaining champions or characters. Surviving IGs will wreak destruction on remaining RnF.

Might be a bit onesided, but should provide possibilites to actually hurt big blocks of infantry.
My very first pet gnoblar isn't he cute?
how much is that re-roll to hit banner?
x105 - keeping pace with my wins!

Ogre achievements: 65/101 latest: maneater (play in 5 different venues)

Latest Fantasy Result: ogre kingdoms vs. high elves - 1500 points - win!

8th edition: 105/25/12
New ogres: 36/6/5

I was born and bred in a briar patch!
On second though i might remake the 6 IGs to bulls, scrap the leadies and take a giant instead, seems like more bang for the buck, and better flank protection.

http://www.ulthuan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=32236 according to ulthuan 55pts. Dont know if its worth it, but i like the idea. Might be better to give the BSB some magic items tho, its not like the unit lacks a lot of hitting power :)

shame that forces it onto a BSB then - if it was 50 points I'd be having it like a shot for a hard-hitting unit like rhinox riders.

Yeah, that was the first thing I thought when I saw it.  The second thing was ogre horde with re-rolls.  <drool>
I believe that the BSB is unable to take a CLS unfortunately. I often find that I use his magic items alotment for weapons for that very reason.

I like the move to drop the leadies and take a giant( with the thunderstomp ability now right?)

And lastly, I am interested to play some games to see if taking the GTS is going to be worth the points anymore now that the magic is so nasty when it goes off.
Yeah definitly some things that needs tweaking. Will give it another go and make it legal when I get home from work. Drat it to sit indoors when you could sit outside in the sun and twiddle with your armies  8>)

I don't like the BSB and Tyrant in the same unit, too many points in one unit, it will attract most all fire from the opponent. Plus it becomes deathstar-esque and not many everyday players like facing death stars in friendly matches.
Tyrant,  Mawseeker , Greyback pelt, cathyan longsword,  heavy armour  = 261

Slaughtermaster, Gruts Sickle, healing potion  =270

BSB, Mawseeker, new I10 sword, glittering scales armour(-1 to hit)=205

Bruiser, Greatskull, H.armour, GW=177

4 Ironguts, bellower, standard, Runemaw = 247

7 bulls, bellower, standard = 275

6 bulls, bellower standard = 240

9 trappers, Snarefinger = 60

30 Fighters = 60

Scraplauncher = 165

2x gorger =150

Giant 175

Total 2225 (may need recalculation, points from memory). So 25 to spare, enough for 5+ward to tyrant, or other ideas?

BSB can surprise challenge if not up against the most heavy hitters in the game with a good chance of winning due pretty high ressiliance. Else Tyrant can take over. Tactic like before, just better flank with giant instead of scrappies, runemaw banner for magic protection, and greyskull in slaughtermaster unit instead of ward, and slaughtermaster got healing potion so he can buff more.

BSB could maybe havea better combo, tho i like the I10 idea.
