Sky giant tribe Ideas...

original thread ↗

hey I sorta just started collecting ogre kingdoms, I was thinking on making my tribe a little different in flavour and wanted to ask your opinion on it and how I should go about it.

basically my  tribe would be giant worshippers. Insted of giants being our enemies my tribe believed them too be gods (big ol stomach) and worshiped them for some time - they seperated from the other tribes and have slowly began too return..

I wanted too focus more on steppe nomadic feel lots of furs all about honour and duty (mongolian values, freedom etc) tribal paintings less bones more fur and tokens and I wanted my Giant (slave giant) too be a centerpiece as though he is worshiped by the ogres.

of course my ogres are still war like but they are less bones and eating and more duty and honor.

thats the beginning idea any help would be appreciated
Well, first off, this is a really cool theme, and honestly one that I can say I have never heard or seen executed before. So kudos on the uniqueness :)

Secondly, the loads of fur thing will be easy enough, depending on how well you work with green stuff. A simple fur is easy enough to make using green stuff. And, if you are unsure on how to go about it, there are several tutorials here on the Stronghold, and several elsewhere on the internet.

Thought of a skin colour for them? If they are steppes origin, I would suggest maybe steering clear of the commonly used ones; brown, grey, peachy human skin etc... Maybe go for a pallid skin tone, a very pale, off-white.

Also, have you thought about what you want in your army, in terms of specifics? Beyond ogres and a giant. I mean, would yhetees really be that far down from the mountains?

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

honestly my main idea is sorta like herders, the ogre idea is like this I wanna get away from cannabilism and big dumd ogre I wanna flavour them on wise old man who travel with a herd so they are like a myth only seen for a little while then they travel again, so i am thinking lots of basic troops as many as possible with least amount of points - secondly I want too change them being so violent and hungry, food is a ritual not something you eat all the time for the fun of it, eating is a celebration its a time to tell stories and bond.

they gotta have the feel of always being on the move so I try too keep away from monsters that would slow us down...they are herders (lots of cows or some food source etc travel with them...like steppe nomads) I also wanna add more body tattoos, so lots of fur and body tattoos and for the gut plate I want it too be less scary and more Ornate - i want the gut plate too be a way for the ogre too tell his story his gut plate has drawings of his forefathers, his deeds etc, bigger the gut plate bigger the story (the bigger the better) its like a family crest and a sign of power etc.

and I really like the gnoblars so maybe a few loads of them....but they arent in fear of ogre they wouldnt get eaten by them, the ogres see themselves as the keepers and protectors of the small onessince they are not as blessed as them with such a great stomach, so they protect the gnoblars and the gnoblars serve them such as cook, clean take care of the herd animals and the ogre do the same too the giant who they worship (i wanna make a really careful big giant lots of body tattoos lots of fur etc).

I havent thought about things like skin color  I was thiking of pale like you suggested but I want them too have hair (i might green stuff some beards and mor hair on top) and i would like it too be very dark like dark DARK red..

these are still ideas... as for the army lotts of ogres as possible least amount of points...

sry i ramble sometimes so if you didnt understand something my bad...

this is the sort of thing i wanted too paint on the gut plates, simple and small so i can do lots of small designs...

I was also thinking on soemthing giving them these arm things mongolian wrestlers wear...
Right, rather rushed reply, so I am sorry. But, here goes;

- The red hair might not work so well. The pale skin needs a sharper contrast than even dark red, so black would be the obvious choice.
- The gut plates telling a story through symbols and drawings sounds great, but is going to be rather hard to pull off.
- If you are thinking of herders and what not, you may wanna consider Rhinox Riders. They fit the bill perfectly, although your budget might restrict this somewhat.
- The strapping and stuff on the arms is easily achievable by using various Iron Gut arms, but this entails buying lots of IG's... Or trading for the arms...
- I like the idea of lots of Gnoblars, but I dunno if them being exempt from an Ogres diet is such a great idea. Whilst your ogres aren't brutal, cannibalistic morons, they aren't entirely free from the thrall of hunger, or they simply would not be ogres...

they arent free from hunger nor are they that smart...they are still big caveman but instead of eating themselves and small gnoblars they have huge herds of animals too pick off....and everything else in the way, they would still eat in battle etc but why would you eat your own servents? I was thinking the rhinox BUT i would prefer them on foot, i know they arent as fast but they scould up with a herd of animals  but ty for the tips i shall work on more
No worries mate :) Glad I could help you :) Keep us updated on how this goes :)

OH YEAH Loving the sound of this army... can't wait to see it come together.
