Greasus or Skrag

original thread ↗

I am new to this forum and to warhammer, but i do play lotr and 40k.  I am starting an ogre army soon and i want to know if i should get Greasus Goldtooth or Skrag the Slaughterer.  Also how to use them and what their advantages and disadvatages are.

Thanks

Depends, I would not field Skrag in a 2000 pts and what is for Greasus, he can only be selected in a 3000 pts.  They are both good, how to use them will be up to you. For sure you will not put them up front and alone hehehe
Who will be the next Khan in the Ogre Kingdoms?
Thanks for the reply Genghis Khan

Of the special characters I'd personaly start with Skrag, although would probably suggest neither to begin with, just go with a standard tyrant.

i thinks that is what i will do for now   thanks

Special characters can be fun, but generally aren't worth the fuss.  I have Scrag but have only used him twice.  I've yet to play a game big enough for Greasus.  He is the only ogre that I have left to buy (except for Braugh - and I don't have any hope of ever seeing one again, let alone being able to buy it.).

Where did you see Braugh? I've been trying to see a picture of him for the longest time. As for the question I say the standard tyrant to start. I'm just now Starting to play Skragg. But if you like one go for it! But like Genghis Khan sayes don't leave them out in the open. And why do so many 40k players like Ogres?
I was orignally going to get wood elves because i heard they good at shooting and i have a Tau army for 40k.  Then I looked into the ogres and saw that they were really cool models to paint and convert.  I have yet to see how they do in a battle.   P.S. Thanks for the posts

Braugh is available here:

He is a bit pricey, though. That's what you get for there only being 200 of them in the world.

Also he doesn't have any rules (apart from those that someone is making on this forum...).

On topic: Go with a standard tyrant to begin with. Get used to the army. Once you have a good core army, maybe get Skrag (more opportunities to use him) for some fun.
Start with the tyrant, yes.

But after a while, i suggest Skrag, even if it is for his one rule of 2 gorgers for the price of one.

Greasus has some cool rules, but at almost 600 pts, he doesn't sell very well to me.
Skrag, definately skrag!
Last year someone put one up on eBay - and put a scan of the LE certificate that came with him - and it had trial rules for him.  I thought I saved a copy of them - but of course I can't find them now - arrrghh!!!

Nonsense! $192 is nothing...

Anyways, I personally think Greasus is the coolest of the two, but as said he can only be used in 3k+ games. So if you want a special character, get Skrag.

I had to Google Big Red Book to figure out it meant the WFB rulebook - I thought it had something to do with Mao.

Hey, there's still four days left. Expect it to go up another couple of hundred dollars on the last day...

The last one that went on eBay was bought with Buy It Now for US$1000.
Oooohhhh.... Im so tempted to put in a bid, whats £120.00 at the end of the day?

    :D

might just do that.

By the way, how did you find that model on ebay, when I did a search it brought up nothing, in the end I had to search for the sellers name to find it...

I've sent the user an email asking if the original certificate is included, this has the rules on, if it does Ill put in a bid, and ask for a pic of the rules.

Thanks Groghog the Blind, I'm the one building Braugh, I'm not to impressed with the GWS Braugh.  Would love to have him for my collection though the price is alittle out of my range at this time.
Nah, the model is without it's certificate, so can't get the rules.

I wouldnt take any of them i think special characters are a waste of points and you can also make a character just as hard using a normal tyrant and gearing him up a bit .
Thanks Alot !
