Dark Eldar - New Pics Added 3/7

hmmm, whats next?
I'm thinking that I want to start playing with some Truebloods flying around in Vypers.  Kind of like some drive by units.  I also want to try my hand at modeling some of the unit options that aren't yet available.  Wracks, Talos, Cronos and such.

To many options to pick from.  I wish there were squadron options for some of the heavy support spots.

I'd love to see what you do for some of the Archon's inner circle units. I adore that they use alien mercenaries from other races- it's precisely what I always imagined for the DE. You should do those. Yes.

Thanks guys!  Yeah am pretty happy with how they turned out. 

I'm not to sure about how sold I am on the Archon's court.  Having a Medusae or two might be handy.  I also have a few of the really old metal demonnettes that I was thinking about converting for Ur-Ghuls.  I'm really interested in trying my hand at some Wrack conversions.  I'm just not sure on what to use for them.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Work continues on the Dark Eldar army.  I picked up all of the new models I needed to flush out my list.  I mainly needed some more Wychs, Trueborn with special weapons, and 2 more ravagers.  I am also working on some Venom conversions.  the list that I am working on right now is as follows.

My strategy is to send the small wych squads in as suicide bombers and hopefully get units out of their transports.  The Trueborns will be the dedicated "drive by" squads, while the incubi and archon will tackle elite units.  The large wych unit will either help out the archon/incubi or the small wych units.  The large warrior squad will be tasked with holding objectives. Lastly, the Ravagers will provide some more fire support.  i'm not sure why people keep passing up the disintegrator cannon option.  These things are fantastic at killing elite units like termies, nobs, nid warriors and such. 

I'm hoping to get a game in today or tomorrow with this list so I'll let people know how my plan holds u.  In the mean time, I would love to hear wha people think about this list.

Here are some shots of the Venom conversion I just finished up.  Made from a Vyper, some Ravager parts and a bit of plasti-card.  The front panel isn't glued down yet, since I want to be able to paint all of the driver.Now that I've made one, I'm going to try and whip up 3 more.  I can't help my self, i'm a big fan of fleet based dark eldar armies.     

I added green stuff to the nose to make it fit in more better with my old style raider/ravager.  Just realized that I need to file that down a bit.  I am going to base coat this puppy tomorrow so I can get crackin with the painting.  There is a venom conversion/painting comp at my local GW next week that I would like to enter.

That is quite impressive. Scratch building panzee pieces is fairly difficult, and you did it quite well.

The Venom won the competition for me!  Got a nice little $50 store credit.  I got it done a couple of hours before the competition, so i basically put my paintbrush down and headed out (had to get a game in prior).  I'll get some pics posted as soon as I get the model back.

amazing paint, and great conversion, some really nice thing about it.

Here is a little more progress on my DE.  I've got plenty of old warriors so I thought I would use the new models as Trueborn.  I kitted out as many of them as I could with assault weapons. 

Two of them are the regular blasters, two are the shredders with some of the extra bits trimmed off, and the other two are made out of splinter rifles and the disintegrators that come in the raider kit.  Let me know what you think.

Now that I look at the pictures, I'm wondering if more of the gun needs to be metal?  The guns seem to blend into the armour to much.  I will double check when I'm not at work since they may look okay in person.   What do you guys think?

I managed to get in a game last night at my local GW.  I played against a chaos army that had about half of its points tied up in deep striking units.  The army consited of the following

- Abbadon with a 5 aspiring champ terminators (combi-meltas and chainfists aplenty)
- Chaos terminator lord with bloodfeeder (packed in a land raider with a bunch of bezerkers)
- 1 squad of Thousand Sons
- 3 Obliterators
- Defiler
- Greater Daemon

1st turn
He stole the inititave and drove the Land Raider straight up the table.  My dark lance ravager blew it up.  The rest of my army filled the zerkers and lord with a ton of darklight shots and wiped them off the table (600 pts neutralized no problem).  Also, I was in advantages position to pounce on all of the objectives and any units that came on the table. 

2nd turn
Lots of maneuvering, not much happened.  I did assault the Thousand son's rhino with my 5 man wych squad with haywire grenades.  All they did was blow off the havoc launcher. 

3rd turn
The oblits deepstrike and blow up my 10man wych's squad raider.  The Defiler then battle cannons them down to two survivors.  The greater daemon possesses the thousand son champ, and that squad kills most of the 5man wych suicide bombing squad.  In my turn the oblits get wiped out as well as my 5 man wych squad in the assault phase.

4th turn
Abbadon and friends show up and blow up my Archon’s raider. The greater demon assaults one of the trueborn raiders and blows it up.  The defiler and thousand squad get shot up.  The thousand squad is left with one member and the defiler loses its battle cannon and is immobilized.  In the assault phase, my HQ squad attacks Abbadon and his boys.  My Archon manages to miss Abbadon with 5 out of 6 attacks, and fails to wound.  On the flip side, Abbadon rolls a one for his daemon weapon and loses a wound.  My Incubi make up for the Archon’s poor performance and wipes out all of the Aspiring champs before they have a chance to strike. 

5th turn
The greater daemon destroys another trueborn raider.  My archon again fails to do anything to Abbadon.  Abbadon in turn wiped out all 7 of my Incubi!  Needless to say my Archon hightailed it behind a wall of disintegrator ravager.  My turn saw the trueborn wipe out the greater demon and thousand son.  My dark lance ravager destroyed the defiler, and the two disintegrator ravagers made swiss cheese out of abbadon.  That will teach him to pick on my HQ squad. 

The game ended with most of my army still intact, and all my opponent had was a single rhino.  I also controlled 3 of the 4 objectives.  This was a pretty easy game since I was able to focus the majority of my armies firepower on the small portion of my opponents army as it came on the board.    This is the second time I’ve faced Abbadon with my DE.  This is also the second time that I’ve had no trouble neutralizing him.

Another small update.  I also finished a 10 man squad of Wyches.  I really like these new models.  They work extremely well with the color scheme I established with the old product line.  The combo the muscle/bone armor and grey skin seem to work really well.  I was surprised with how long it took to finish this squad.  I ended up spending a lot of time on all of the additional details on the belts.  I’m not sure if the items on the belt were designed to be the combat drugs and haywire grenades but I chose to paint them as such.  I’m really happy with the results.  I love how the vials look like they are filled with various different liquid drugs that can be sipped on from time to time.

Absolutely brilliant paintjob man, all the coulors work so well together, the finished army will look very eye catching. In the spirit of this forum OGRE stronghold maybe you could make a dark elf or dark elder theme for some ogres maybe 

Not putting nearly as much attention into this army as I am my Ogres, or Letion of the Damned army.
