I had a tournament this weekend.
Always a nice one and I got a rock hard daemon list I thought, though it was more for the ETC, then for these kinds of tournaments.
No comp, no special characters
Battle 1 chaos dwarves:
Never played them and after I heard what their rules were we played.
There was an objective in the middle of the table worth 500 points and I sat there with 2 units of horrors and a unit of daemonettes.
except, that my bloodthirster was magically charged (he had 10 power dice + power stones) by his dwarves and lost horrobly, nothing really strange happened and I got a 22-3 win.
Battle 2 was against wood elves.
No tree, no treekin.
He thought up front to go for a draw, I thought this to be an easy fight.
My words:"Ha, I've got a ward save against your attacks, and you?"
Famous last words, as I failed so many ward saves, that my opponent started thinking about not shooting, just to get a game.
He didn't even have that many shots: 2 heroes, 2x10 archers, 5 glade riders and 2x7 waywatchers.
I lost 22-3, but apart from terrible dice, it was a fun game.
Last battle against skaven.
Only an abommination and for the rest 10 power dice, a condensor, and at least 2 x power stones and of course chunkies.
to see you through the battle 3 events:
- spell 13 on my daemonettes and I couldn't block.
- terror test made the whole army take panic tests, but only the first unit ran.
- bloodthirster in front of a unit of slaves: does 7 attacks, does rerolls, does to wound (S7 - T3) and does 1 wound, he wins and my bloodthirster goes pooff.
I just lost the game, but again dice were very decisive.
Last battle was also a bit of a drag. the guy even thought for 10 seconds, when he had to take terror tests.
I had a fully painted army and all coherent, so I didn't get too low in the end score.
Lessons:
- with 5 dispell dice, I should have a scroll.
- obsidian armour is useless against opponents with no magical weapon (which I'd probably get, when I take armour of khorne)
- deamonettes with siren song are awesome.
- flamers do their thing
- for non-ETC tournaments, maybe I should take a keeper or lord of change.

Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol
