Green Ogres! (Rhinox and Army photo)

I posted an image a while ago of some test Ogres, and I ended up sticking with that scheme. So here is a finished guy, the female Maneater that i'll be using as my butcher. I have a tournament this weekend so i'm scrambling to get this army done. I've only take this one picture so far, but i'll probably take more of the rest of the army sometime soon. Hope you like it, and wish me luck this weekend

Lovely stuff! If you can maintain that level of quality throughout the army I'm sure it'll look great on the table.

I can't say I am too keen on the colour scheme, but the skill with which you have executed, is outstanding. I normally dislike the heavy highlighting style, like the one you've employed, but on this model, it is amazing!

Here are some more photos of my army that I finally got around to taking. The army isn't completely done, a few details here and there are missing, but was happy with what I was able to get done for the tournament. My army did pretty well, they went 2-2-1 for a top twenty finish.

A nice army! I like how you've painted the metal. Is it possible to show some more pics from those rhinoxen?

Quite categorically one of the best painted ogre armies i've seen.

Some really nice original ideas here - loving the rhinoxen idea of using the giant boar from the Orcs range, and also the colour scheme works really well.

Definitely go in for that competition Hragged mentioned methinks you've got a good chance (unlike some of us )

The Rhinox are from the Scrap Launcher kit with a head swap, and the whole idea for this model came to me at the very last minute. I ordered the Thunderlord Rhinox from Forge World but it didn't come in time for the tournament I was participating in last weekend (it is still not here), so I had to scramble to get something else to use. Luckily I knew some friends with these models, and I thought it turned out rather well. It's not as impressive as the forgeworld model, not by a long shot, but it worked.

Anyway, thanks for the complements. Hopefully by the next tournament in a few months I'll have a display board and a nice new Thunderlord model, and the army will really shine.

Really nice job. While i will admit i am not a fan of the skin colour on the ogres i do admire what you have done. Some top quality work. I really like what you have done with the gnoblars skin colour. And the fur on the trapper looks great. Alot of ogre armies i have seen do a great job on the big guys then seem to give up on the gnoblars. Nice to see you have put in a cracking standard across the whole army.

I wasn't very keen on the idea of Green but I must say you have really pulled of the scheme! Real nice work

I don't think the green on green paint scheme looks as good online in these pictures as it does in person. Which is probably due to the face that you don't see the pin stripes as clearly in these photos as you do in person. Those are really what make the army look good, at least in my opinion.

Looks like my Tyrant made it onto the cover of the most recent Tales of Battle magazine! Pretty cool. If you all don't know, Tales of Battle is a pretty cool independently produced magazine covering the INDY GT scene in the US as well as general Fantasy Hobby stuff, I'd recommend it to everyone.

Also, in the next few days I'll post a few more models I've recently worked on in preparation for a tournament this weekend in Atlantic City. I now have a display base, a new forgeworld Rhinox and a BSB.

and good luck on the tournament, talking about the tournemant have you ever won best painted army in the tournaments or did you only played one sofar the one i was reading in the beginning of the blog. you would make a good change

Unless with the new book (whenever that might be) they make the giant anywhere near as good as the other rare choices, then I doubt I'll ever paint on for this army.

As for painting awards, I won players choice last year at this same tournament I'm attending this weekend, but it was for my Lizardmen army.

Great work! I was thinking of making my ogres green to, but I wanted a darker tint. What green did you use?

Could you tell me what coulors you used and including for the highlights plz?!

For the skin I used foundation paint gretchin green, then mixed in bleached bone to do the highlights. Anyway here are the two newest additions to the Army, my BSB and the good ol' forgeworld rhinox.
