Making the Most of the Battalion Box Set (2007)

original thread ↗

by brother ducat

A good build from the battalion box set, that allows easy further expansion, is as follows:

3 x Ogre Bulls with Bellower - A nice basic unit, You must have one bull unit in your army.

3 x Ogre Ironguts with Standard and lookout Gnoblar - A good solid core unit. Ironguts are the staple of any good ogre army. Your Bruiser will join this unit.

3 x Ogre Ironguts with Standard and Lookout Gnoblar- Your second excellent solid core unit. Your Butcher will join this unit.

3 x Ogre Leadbelchers with Bellower - A good solid flank holding unit.

8 Gnoblar Trappers - Cheap(ish) scouts to harass and annoy the enemy. The Gnoblars with the Big clubs and large sacks are great to use for your trappers.

For your remaining two Ogres, you get to do a little converting.

1 Ogre Bruiser with Heavy armour and Great weapon - A solid leader of your small force, and can be used as a Tyrant for your larger games.

1 Ogre Butcher with bangstick and dispell scroll - Offense and defence in one package.

This totals 998pts, and gives a force that can compete in all levels of the game. It will also allow for easy future expansion to a larger army of your own design, being that it contains all the basic units you will probably require as the core of your force.
