My Nurgle Ogre army

original thread ↗

Hello fellow Ogre players,

I've recently finished this army and I would like to share it with you. The general army theme is Nurgle. The maggots on the base are from rice, I took that idea from someone at the Daemonic legion forum, I need to lookup his name but credits to him anyway.

First up my Ironguts 6 units of 3

One unit of (compulsory.. hihi) Bulls

20 Nurglars

8 Nurglar trappers

Unit of Pusbelchers

3 Maneaters with brace of handguns

Slavegiant

3 Butchers

Tyrant

Wound and spell markers

The complete army

Currently I have no plans of expanding the army. The only thing I will be adding will be a Bull-Rhinox rider using the Beast of Nurlge from Forgeworld.
Very impressive, disgustingly beautiful work :)

Have a Pet Gnoblar on me.
Woah, they are amazing! Great modelling skills, that's a well deserved pet gnoblar  :D
I have a spacious box now Shame the leadbelchers use me for target practice.... But they'll never him me they're so bad, they've already blown themselves up!
Wow! Looks really cool. You did a nice job of keeping the theme going across a wide variety of models. I especially like the Pusbelchers.

The Maneaters are insanely cool (as is the rest of the army).

"Needs Moar Manowar"
Wow, just wow.  Really well executed.
Awesome work!

Gobsmacked!

Very well deserved Gnobar
There are way too many mutations on the giant, you could have been a bit more subtle with that.
But the whole army is really impressive and the tentacles coming from the Butchers crotch is just plain disturbing.
Actions speak louder than words, unless your eating a mime of course.
Fantastic conversions really great, I personally love the giant and his mutations.
Proud owner of 2250 ogres, 2000 dwarfs, and 1500 empire, as well as 750 romans (different game)

You've nurglified those ogres fantastically!

And without (very minimal) green! They sure bring the fear rule into life.

As with every one above me. Wow that is simply amazing, I wish I had the talent/skill that you dear sir have.
Now thats a awesine army!
Nice to see you here, Chris.

Did you take some pictures at night? the yellowish glow tells something like that.

To be honest, the army has next to deservingly win (multiple?) best painted awards the annoying feeling, that he takes more to the table then is allowed.
It looks at least as good here as it does on the table. (just as your vampire counts by the way.

Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol

Thank you for the positive reactions.

All the pictures I took where at night and some turned out better then others. I am sorry for that but you get the general colors.
Hi there,

So I redid some of my Ogres to fit in the new edition and for the Dutch GT mentioned below. Mainly adding two Scraplaunchers and command models to my Ironguts. I also made movement trays for obvious reasons.

This is how it turned out (lots of pictures incoming):
The whole army (2400 points):

Scraplauncher made from a Beast of Nurgle and a, some corpse cart bits and a Goblin Rocklobba. The other one is quite standard with Nurglings as crew instead of Gnoblars.

6 model unit of Ironguts:

7 model unit of Ironguts

Gorger made from an Forgeworld Ogryn:

The same Giant with some minor tweaks:

A second unit of Bulls I've made (since I wanted to field 2 scraplaunchers):

A second Gnoblar unit I made, also for the second scraplauncher:

Two old characters which I've updated a little and a new BSB Bruiser:

Bruiser BSB:

Slaughermaster:

Tyrant:

That's all.

Best thing about the new army: I took the best painted award at the Dutch GT last weekend :D. No shocking results on the gaming side. Over five games I had two draws, a loss, a massacre loss and a massacre win. Which placed me about midfield I think. But the final results have not been posted yet. Results have just been posted as I wrote this. I turned out 20th of 48 so just about the half way mark, which is a good result for me.
AWESOME! Well exceuted and fantastically painted. You have won the rule fo cool. Have a Gnoblar!
22/101 Ogre Achievements... Gotta try harder.

Pet Gnoblars:
Beautifully disgusting!
This is the time where Zeppelin's "Whole lotta love" would fit perfect.

Never liked Nurgle much, but this is just awesome. :)
My hood is my castle...
They look fantastic....
These actually look amazing!

Really great job! Love the giant!

Incredible work Whizzbang.  It's a golden daemon quality army in my opinion, simply awesome!
This is such a fantastically done army. I love everything about it with only two exceptions (a few too many maggots on bases & the red dragon helm on one of the butchers looks a little too large for him) and they're just down to my picky personal taste!

Their tears will be a perfect addition to the Butcher's cauldron.
Enjoy this pet rice maggot... oh I am out, well this gnobby will do!  :>D
Wow! The amount of work that has gone into this army really shows, they are awesome. Congratulations!
-Some people are like Slinkies, not really good for anything. But, they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.-

I've done some work to my Ogres. I've basy added a Bullrhinox rider to my army. It obviously still needs ome greenstuff here and there. But here is the wip:

What do you think?
Love it. It certainly has a chaos theme to it. Was it difficult to get the rider to sit properly?

I also like the spikey maneater in the background of the first shot!

The answer to everything is sabretusks.  There is no problem that can't be solved at least in part with kitties.

Record: 17/14/5

Not really, it was quite easy actually. The hardest things were placing the Rhinox properly on the base and sculpting the snout which is not really done yet at this point.

I btw feel obliged to tell that I found great inspiration from these pictures. I however don't know who they belong to or where they came from (I think from this forum):

I like yours quite a bit. The only thing I would change is the little spawn tail... it looks tacked on in comparison to the rest of the model.

Hats off to you.

Are the maggots made of rice?
Great army by the way.

Are the maggots made of rice?
That is correct. Took that idea from someone at the Daemonic Legion forum.

Ill be finishing my Rhinox Rider in the coming weeks. Ill post pictures then.
Wizzbang, I am giving you a Gnoblar for this as well. I love the Ogres, and my favorite Chaos Lord is Nurgle and you have combined them BEAUTIFULLY (well, whatever that means by Nurgle standards anyway lol).

I would be willing to pay handsomely for this army. I love to play, but Im not the most "sculptive" person in the world. Absolutely amazing...

EDIT: And I MUST ask...did you cook the rice first? I noticed it is kinda bent in some places so I didnt know? (serious question! lol)

This army is now for sale in the Gnoblar Market here: http://www.ogrestronghold.com/forum/index.php?topic=29783.0
Sorry for the threadomancy...

With the maggots, was it just a cas of gluing a bunch of rive down and then painting,or was there a special technique?

Also, absolutley amazing army,I wanted to do a nurgle themed list and thats inspired me even more
You just watch that Threadomancy now... :|
two months is pushing the limit let alone 4 years! Hopefully there will be a reply as the army was sold 2 months ago, otherwise I would recommend asking the question to the assembled brethren yourself. Seek and you shall find, ask and we will share!

G_H
Glue it down and paint it.
Was originally done by a guy called Beastlord Karankawa.
I used the technique for my Nurgle legion and 40k death guard armyx
