Newbie 2000 point list, not finished

original thread ↗

Hi everyone, I'm definately going to start Ogres after WoC, and I'm looking for more of an army composed of things I like, not powerful things (not that Ogres have a powerful list anyway :P ).

Lord: Tyrant with Heavy Armour, Tenderiser, Thiefstone, Fistful of Laurels and Big Name Deathcheater - 306

Heroes: Butcher with Dispel Scroll and Bangstick - 180

Hunter with Greyback Pelt - 180

Bruiser with Heavy Armour, Skullplucker and Thiefstone - 179

Core: 20 Gnoblar Fighters - 40

4 Bulls with Bellower - 150

4 Bulls with Bellower - 150

4 Ironguts with FC and Rune Maw - 262

Special: 2 Leadbelchers - 110

2 Leadbelchers - 110

Scraplauncher - 165

1832 points.

Now, I don't know what else to add.

My army is based around the contents of the Battalion, another box of Bulls, and the Scraplauncher will be scratchbuilt (characters made with spare Bulls).

I don't want to include Gorgers.
I don't want to include Yhetees (and in fact, can't, with the Greyback Pelt).
I don't want to swap out the Hunter for another Butcher.
And... Slavegiants seem rather crap.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Heroes: Butcher with Halfling Cookbook and Bangstick (wow, no Dispel Scrolls) - 180

Cannot have two arcane items. But you can have Dispel Scroll and Bangstick/ Cookbook. I would take Scroll and Bangstick.

With the points left take 3x Ironguts. Then you have 1976pts.

Why do I always forget?...

Anyway, I'll do that then.
Drop Deathcheater... it just isn't good.

I thought it'd be pretty good, if you were facing something like a Lizardmen Oldblood, but how often will I face on of them? So okay.
Hi,
A suggestion for further expansion might be to bump the bull and irongut units up to six each with full command and deploy them in two ranks. This tactic works for me and makes your army very solid indeed.
If you want to be economical, knock off a bull/irongut off a unit and stick in your tyrant/butcher/bruiser, for a bit extra 'fightyness' and for protection.
Hope this helps!

P.S. Greyback pelt aside, why don't you like Yehtees?
I'd find the points for champions on your LBelchers to spread the wounds, and you might also consider musicians for rallying on ld 8, if they are to use bait and flee.
Time for a light snack.............bring the prisoners here.
Siege Breaker on the Bruiser you wont regret it. Skullplucker is very bad. Maybe also make your Bruiser the BSB with a Look Out gnoblar.

Ditch the champion from the IGs and try to squeeze in another 3 IGs with Muso.

9 Trappers would also be useful if running the Hunter.
WC's Achievements  29/101 = 29% completed

Ogres  6:0:0 (New Book) vs. Dwarves, Empire, HE's, VC's, WE's and Skaven.

Hi, sorry I haven't replied - I went to NZ, and I'm collecting WoC now. I'll eventually get around to replying to this though.

What about Bull rhinox riders or Maneaters   ;)
