Hey guys, I am thinking of tweaking my list some but I am wondering if I want to play LBs over a Hunter or vice versa.
Here's the list:
Skrag Gorger x5
Tyrant: Tenderiser, Gut Maw, WSN, HA, Lucky BSB Bruiser: GTSs x2, Sw/Might w/ IGs x6: Champ, SB/Warbanner, Lookout
Butcher: Siegebreaker, Skullmantle w/ IGs x7: SB, Muso
Butcher: DSS x2
Bulls 2x3: Muso
LBS x4: Champ, Muso
Trappers x9
Fighters 2x24
=2999
If I drop the unit of LBs, that will free up enough points for a pointed up Hunter w/ 2 kitties and leave 6 points open. I would like to change the list enough to get another unit of trappers. I am thinking of taking those 6pts, dropping 1 IG from the Butcher's unit (knocking it down to 6) and that gives me exactly 54pts for another unit of 9 Trappers.
Thoughts?
EDIT: If I do it, what is everyone's suggestion for how to point up the Hunter? I was thinking Greyback Pelt and "Beastkiller"

I don't like Leadies but they really have a place in an 'Ard Boyz list. You need them for Fast Cav and flyer removal, plus people tend to focus on them early leaving your other units alive longer.
I don't see the Hunter bringing the same to the table. He could be used for points denial though.

Totally agree with Randroid. They're not usually that good in terms of killing stuff and taking hits, but a unit of four is a massive distraction that'll almost certainly attract more attention than is justified. I find many people are ignorant of the rules for 'em, and as such are deathly afraid of their capabilities.

Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.

I treat Leadbelchers as Bulls with bonuses, so I would minimize the Bull units and spend the points on Leadbelchers.
I like the use of champions on the leadbelchers

Even in a Ard Boyz list?

Time for a light snack.............bring the prisoners here.

No, we're discussing the merits of one unit over another rather than the actual list.

OK the pointed Hunter and his kitties are actually 5 pts cheaper (wow...lol) than the LB unit. So lets break them down some.
4 Leadbelchers w/champ, muso =
12 wounds 13 CC attacks 4 Impact Hits (assuming they all live) 12 US in CC 6+ AS 7 Ld 4 Artillery shots in the shooting phase
Hunter w/ kitties =
8 wounds 10 attacks 7 US (can still negate ranks) 6+ AS 9 Ld Can take magic items Bolt Thrower Fast Cav More Scouts option
Abilities:
LBs can blow themselves up potentially causing panic amongst themselves, or making their unit smaller for the charge. They are lower toughness and no armor, and will panic about 45% of the time because of Ld7 when being shot. They have a shorter range, but they can potentially annihilate whatever they shoot at.
Hunter is a stand alone and cannot stand up against warmachine fire and will die faster if not protected. He is slightly higher toughness but still has no armor, and at 4 wounds one cannon can take his head right off. He has a longer range, but less of a chance of doing more damage.
LBs are standard troops which means they have to setup during the units phase, whereas the Hunter can setup during characters and wont count toward +1 for who goes first. I could go one, but lets look at this stuff first.
