A 20 years old miniatures game, with outdated rules of even then poor quality Hyper aggressive marketing to say the least. I am not convinced. Who buys it and why?

I bought it!
20 year old game - but not dated. Its taken the best from every previous iteration and added some more goodness. miniatures in thsi set are excellent too. Rules are no longer outdated and are of pretty high quality.
I'll agree about the marketing - but this is GW. Do you remember the "buy a giant, buy a giant, buy a giant!"
The copy I bought if for my school club and I'm sure that everyone will have fun with it

Played 2 games of this last night and it was a lot of fun. Very difficult to win as the Space Marines.

I am yet to play it, but as I understand it, it is great fun, and a fantastic alternative to normal GW gaming, but is relatively pricey, and not everyone is convinced whether it really is value for money...
Still wanna get a set of the space marines from that game though...

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.
And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

It is undoubtedly worth the money if you play Blood Angels or Stealer Shock nids. The sculpts are awesome and you would pay about $100 for the Terminator models alone.
I think the best way to play this is with one scenario, two players, switching sides after a game is complete. Player who does the "best" as the Space Marines is the winner.

Yesterday, I have watched a 2 games. The rules are ... well I guess the player being second on the space marines has a distinct advantage
The models are red and purple and by no means anywhere near the minimum standard for a miniature game (painted models).

[sarcasm]I don't know about you, but my fantasy models come looking pretty average too. Infact, they often require me to put them together.[/sarcasm]
If you want them painted, then you paint them. The only reason they did them in coloured plastic is so that you can clearly distinguish between marines and nids at a glance

Is that sarcasm I sense from you there Assim? I'm having trouble telling, what with this removal of intonation, context and vocal denotation the internet seems to have

Sure when we talk about an outstanding table top game like fantasy, then assembling and painting models is standard and part of the hobby.
If we talk about a miniature game (like space hulk) then assembling and painting is usually done by the vendor. At least nowadays

I play my friends' copies with them and it is a lot of fun. The strategy for the space marines is all about the "overwatch" ability. If you learn you use it correctly and in the key locations you will win - if not you die. I love using the Marines though!
It took me forever to figure out how to win the first mission as the marines. That suicide mission is exactly just that and if you dont play it just right its "GAME OVER MAN!!!!" lol (anyone know that movie reference?)
Its awesome though, and the models are just incredible (like the marine holding the bug spine, or the bug crawling off the wall - AWESOME!)
Help me decide my next army to play! http://www.ogrestronghold.com/forum/index.php?topic=20309.new#new
