a new Warhammer Fantasy Battle Army...

original thread ↗

...emerges from the Oceans. Behold, the Nauticans !

The Nautican Army has been updated to draft 3.0, main changes:-

    - new Army Wide Special "Sea Creature Origins" rule
    - new units (Interceptors, Coral Hunters, Crest Riders, Tripoon)
    - new special character (Vortex) + other character tweaks
    - new character "mounts" (Royal Chariot, The Eternal Wave, The Great White Titan)
    - tweaks to existing magic and several new magic items
    - removal of undead mariners & undead characters

Current status : working on background fluff, sourcing suitable models and a draft 3.0 pdf.

We could really use some help playtesting. If you're interested then just play a game and send me the feedback (or even better a battle report which we can publish on the Nautican site).

Note: the Nautican Army is completely unofficial and not endorsed by Games Workshop, it is however great fun fielding this army in Warhammer Fantasy Battles !

PS. This project is absolutely not for profit, it's just great fun creating and fielding new armies. Once the Warhammer Community agrees we have a nice balanced army it will be turned into a free pdf download for anyone who wants to try it out.

It doesn't look that bad.
Some things look tough and others seem underperforming.
I like the fluff and some of the combined rules I found.
I sometimes felt that a unit or combination of units/rules already existed in another "regular" army, but you will keep having that.

Two comments though:
- there are very many special rules per unit. I'd try to tone it down, or keep them within the "level" special rules (I meant the deep sea units and stuff).
- the wave has movement 20 AND is flying.
I think you should consider the normal movement to be 10 without flying (think the movement of pleasure seekers ) or make it movement 4 or 5 and flying (keeping it in tone with the rest of the army).
Also consider a flying mount makes it per official rules impossible to join any unit.

To be honest I thought at first: ow know, not another fan army, but I honestly think that at this point your army would be in an advanced play testing face in the GW cycle and I liked it alot.

Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol
