is butcher a wizard?

original thread ↗

hi I have a simple question concernig butcher´s identity. Is he counted as a wizard or not? The AB says "counts as a level 2 wizard for the purposes of determing how many dice they add to casting/dispell pool" but there is no other note that he is a wizard like in other ABooks (usually there is a statement like "sorceress is a level 1 wizard"...ogres are missing this). thanks for reply.
Common sense would dictate that Butchers count as wizards, however I cannot find anywhere that specifically says it.

I always thought he is a lvl 2 wizard, as he can use arcane stuff, generates dice etc.

At least that´s how I would and always have played it.

If your question is regarding stuff that can only afect wizards, like the Infernal puppet or black tongue, I´d say it works just as against any other normal wizard. Could even be FAQed somewhere, but I´m too lazy to search right now.

I agree with Barny on everything he said.

Barney is right, a Butcher counts as a Lv2 wizard, a Slaughtermaster a Lv4, says so somewhere on the page explaining gut magic IIRC.

Note that a Butcher can only use 2 dice to cast a spell though and a SM 3.

You can't be old and wise, and have youthful memory... even if you are FF

Latest: 9. Sigh! - lose more than 3 ogres to any one casting of a spell that involved you taking an initiative test as part of it's resolution

tkanks everybody. I thought he was a wizard (and always played it like this) I was just a bit confused with the sentence in AB I quoted above. On the other hand it would be nice if he wasn´t. if a hellcannon misfires and all wizards on battlefield suffer from miscast it is eliminating for ogres for example.

that´s not the first thing that would disadvantage the Ogres...Same is true for Greenskinz, and pretty much anyone with their own miscast table (which is generally far worse than the regular miscast table, where the casters don´t suffer any real harm unless they´re really unlucky...)
