Leadbelchers and new FAQ WTF

original thread ↗

In the second wave of faq's for seventh edition that GW released this was one of their topics.

Q. If a model does not have line of sight to a target
the rest of the unit is shooting at, must the model
shoot (missing automatically), or does it not shoot
at all?

A. It does not shoot at all. This question is, of
course, only relevant if there is a chance for the
firing model to be hurt by its own weapon.

This leads me to my new rules question what happens when a unit of leadbelchers opens fire but only some of them are found to be LoS. According to the rules those in LoS would fire and those not would hold their fire. My question is whether or not this could result in units of leadbelchers in which some models have loaded cannons and some do not becuase they have yet to fire their 1 shot. So can I have half loaded units or do i get screwed over and lose the other shots that were out of LoS?
8th ED IS COMING, WILL YOU BE READY?
First off, no line of sight and out of range are two different things.
If you are out of range, you still have to fire all belchaz.

I actually don't know about the reloading or not.

Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol

RAW, if some leadies were found to lack los to the target, you'd have some leadbelchers with loaded cannons, and some without.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

Nice try, but the Leadbelchers rules in the OK book say if part of the unit fires the whole unit counts as having fired. But I thought the same thing until I found that rule in our damn army book. GAH!

Randroid, are we going to have to have a talk about applying evidence to rules discussion?

No? I don't have the OK book here with me in Prague, but I know the text is on the Leadbelcher page in the book. Unless I am missing some other piece of information that is relevant to this discussion?

Ogre Armybook - Page 32-33 "Once a unit of Leadbelchers has opened fire, it may not fire again for the rest of the game unless the ogre unit spends an entire ogre turn stationary and out of base to base contact with the enemy."

If you unit of leadbelchers shoots, then it can not fire again until it follows the procedure listed above. Such is true even if only part of the unit actually shot. If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.
Thanks for the save Ganymede.

Believe me, I tried to find a rational for it myself once I read the new FAQ, but I just couldn't find a way to make it work. The only thing I could come up with was that the errata would overwrite the core rulebook, which is what our Army Book based its rules from. That didn't get me too far with my group ...  :?

Hurm. Must repair internet sarcasm emitter. Seems broken. City is a festering hive of whores and unsarcastic politicians. Nite Owl still weak.
