Daemons of Chaos Army Generator

original thread ↗

Come one come all!To the DoC army Generator!
All you need is some dice, theDoC armybook and a pen and paper, then you are ready to beat your friends in a "fun" game of warhammer!
Follow this formula and you will have aDoC army that can win, without going through the trouble of thinking too hard!
Here we go!

Formula footnotes:
When randomizing on pages, count from the top of the page down through the entries. If your roll is off the page, re-roll. (Core selections wrap around to the next page, and only a six is re-rolled).
If selected unit size is below minimum, add model until the minimum is reached.
If randomized unit puts you over the allotted maximum (IE more then 2 rares in 2000 points) then default to the next option down in this order: Rare, Special,Core.

Lord

Roll a d6
1-3 Special character
4-6 Standard

roll on selected page
If a normal lord is selected (un-named greater deamons) roll a d6 to select magic items
1-3 left column of items
4-6 right column
Roll the d6 again to select an item. Repeat once for a total of 2 items,re-rolling if you go over your points limit

When rolling for a daemon prince, roll a d6 for your mark
1-2 undivided
3 Slaanesh
4 nurgle
5 khorne
6 Tzeentch

If not khorne, roll another d6 for magic level
1-2 nothing
3-4 lvl 1
5-6 lvl 4
Then randomize 2 wargear items as described above

Special Character Hero

Roll a D6. If skulltaker is rolled, roll to select his mount:
1-3 nothing
4-5 Juggernaught
6 Chariot

Herald
Roll a D6 to select herald
Roll a D6,on  1-3 he's onfoot, on a 4+ he's mounted
Roll a D6, on a5-6 the herald is a bsb, and roll again to randomize your banner, on a 1-4 randomize 1 piece of wargear as described in the above section

Core
Roll a D6 to select unit
For selected unit take 5D6 models. If roll is under 10, increase to minimum size
If furies are rolled,select 2d6models
Do this 3 times. Furies do not count towards your minimum core, after 2 units of furies re-roll any further units of them, then repeat this step until minimum 3 core is selected.

Special and Rare
Roll a d6  1-3: Special  4-6: rare
Roll aD6to determine unit
if minimum unit size is 1, select d3
If minimum unit size is 3, select d6
If minimum unit size is 5, select 2d6-2

Repeat once

Rounding off points
If final list is over 2000,remove core models until it is under
If final list is 1-124 points under, add command to all units in order of Champions, Standard bearers, then musicians
If final list is 125-175 under, randomize a herald with 1 wargear item
if final list is 175-300 points under, randomize another core unit
if final list is 300-500 under, randomize 2 special or rare units (if rare is maxed out, select specials, and vize versa)
if final list is 500-1000 points under, select 1 herald with mount and 1 wargear option, and 2 special/rare

After preforming the above adjustment,re-check list and adjust as needed.

That's hilarious, although I'm not sure it's meant to be a joke. :P

"Needs Moar Manowar"
It's meant to be a joke, but it sadly works. We have made a few different lists with this, and they all seem alright (although there have been a few misplaced heralds with no unit to join, etc.)
We are planning on getting a bunch of deamon models and going to our next big tournament, then rolling out our lists and see how we do. It may get a few people angry, but I just want the daemon players to know how ridiculous the book is.
Or maybe we will create fun, soft lists. Either way I'm sure we will have fun!

Pretty funny bite. I really like the idea of running random daemon armies at a tournament.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

"it gots to be crazy enough to work!" hilarious idea!
Great idea, works perfectly for daemons too, it doesn't seem very likely to me that daemons would wait until their possy come to get out of the warp.
Things to ponder:

If 'pro' is the opposite of 'con', does that mean 'progress' is the opposite of 'congress'?

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Isn't it a bit worrying that doctors call what they do 'practice'?

Why is a boxing ring square?
And I think most deamon players know their army is just too much to handle for anything out there. A lot of them will play deamons precisely for that reason. A guy I know used to play Chaos mortals. As in Khorne blocks of chosen and chosen knights of Khorne. He stopped them and switched to deamons. He just plays to win. A real WAAC player.

The idea is great though, even if deamon players won't care that a randomised list can still beat the crap out of almost anything. It's fluffy, though it requires you to have a brickload of models.

This is very funny! Haha! :):) sounds fun!

I think what they missed out in the Daemon book is the 'inherent flaw' of the army....most armies have a specific drawback that is for their race i.e. animosity, rubbish troops, slow movement, no combat resolution, crumbling, etc.

crumbling
Bad choice BB ;) They do crumble. Don't forget that Daemonic Instability is pretty much the same as crumbling!

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.
Crumbling happens when you LOSE combat, that very rarely happens with daemons, and they can recover from it.
Daemons also don't crumble when their lord dies, like VC do.

Undead lose on wound for each point they lost the combat by and Daemons lose a wound by each point they fail a break test by. This is in my opinion a massive difference and one reason they are overpowered. I have been intending for a long time to play a match with them losing combats like undead to see if it makes them more balanced but have never gotten around to it. (If anybody fancies an online game to test the theory then feel free to challenge me)

Anyway. Back on topic I think this generator looks pretty fun!
