The Rotting Tide

original thread ↗

This is where I shall chronicle the tales of the tide. I set this tide to test the resolve of man, orc, elf, and ogre alike. This test of the newest of my plagues shall forever be catalouged by my tallyman, Epidemus.

This newest plague is sinister. It causes the skin of every race to boil and fester. These pockets continue to grow, causing excruciating pain to the affected. However, the pain only lasts seconds, as nurglings are spawned in these pustules. Thousands of nurglings quickly chew their way through the affected's organs and fles. The Nurglings that get enough nourishment break free having been engineered by the plague to grow extremely quickly, and the ones that don't get enough food erupt, causing a quick death to the affected. My children are then sent back to attack those they were just spawned from.

A side effect of the plague is that it is not contagious, as it is caused by a swift viral infestaion of my children. Instead, it has been manifest into the strongest of my Great Unclean Ones. The plague, being rotten and pesulent by nature, bestowes the ability for my rotten Unclean One to regenerate his wounds. The pus and bile from the bursted sacs onthe Great Unclean One also hardens around the Greater Daemon, giving him a think, armorlike plating.

Entry 1: I have released the plague upon the world of men. A small bodyguard to the Great Unclean One will be all that is needed, as he is there to deliver the plague onto the races, and the rest of the contingent is disposable. Once the plague starts, it will grow exponentially, or hopefully so.

Entry 2: The Plague found a rather nasty force of Night Goblins under order of Skarsnik. Their numbers were plenty, and they had dozens of goblins on spiders slipping in and out of the forest. They had two giants in tow pulling several bolt throwers behind them. Two tribal shaman were with them, and with the staff one of them held, he was able to hold the plague at bay. The giants stopped the war machines, and goblins swarmed on them setting them up for combat with my forces. The enemies formed into fighting ranks, and even prodded some squigs forth.

I could not have this.

A few swarms of Nurglings surged forward, immedately consuming two units of spider riders to the west, and devoured every last squig in a herd, sending the Goblins fleeing. The Goblins didn't last long, as the Nurglings swarmed all over them when they turned to retreat and ate themselves fat. One of my puppies, my giant dripping slugs, the Beasts of Nurgle dove onto the shaman with the Staff Of Sneaky Stealing, ripping him to tiny bits. The goblins quickly jumped on the beast, stabbing and wounding him mortally before he became unstable and warped back to the realm of daemons, his job complete.

I sent my Plague Bearers slowly slogging forward down the center of their line, taking a giant and a unit of their warriors into combat where they would stay until they died, one by one to the subtle virulece of my poisons coating the blades of my warriors. We lost a small detatchment of Plague Bearers to some overzealous Night Goblin spearmen as they had no herald to protect them. A few of them dropped to the charging goblin spears, and the rest became unstable and disappeared from the realm of man.

The Plague was kept well away from combat by several swarms of nurglings. The Plague itself was generating nurglings so quickly, the enemy could not kill them before another wave was sent in. Dozens upon dozens of nurglings fell, but quickly more were sent to replace them. A second giant and a second unit of night goblin spearmen were eventually surrounded and died to thousands upon thousands of tiny infectious bites. The general of the army started to flee to the east as his army crumbled around him, along with his unit, almost wholly intact.

Nearby, another of my Beasts attacked a pack of squigs who promptly broke away from their masters, and after attempting unsuccessfully to eat my Beast, decided to turn on their captors, taking down an entire unit of spider riders in their foetid jaws, as well as swarming amongst the Night Goblin general's fleeing unit, and another knot of them fell upon the few goblins fighting my Plague bearers to the last. The general's unit rallied, and attempted to come back to the fight to save their kin, but it was too late. The Plague hit them full force, ripping the Night Goblins to pieces and creating dozens of nurglings.

My nurglings that had become more and more numerous slighly to the West, suddenly darted East towards the last goblins standing and swarmed all over them. Goblin bodies disappeared under a tide of Nurglings, and when they receeded, all that was left was Goblin bones. Bolt throwers repeatedly pumped shot after shot at The Plague, but due to horrible Goblin aim, most of the shots missed, and the ones that hit home punched right through the Great Unclean One, who quickly regenerated the wounds. At the end of battle, The Plague was unharmed, as well as all but my beast, the one small unit of plague bearers, and a few plague bearers from my other contingents watched by Heralds; nothing that couldn't be summoned back. The Goblins only had their Machines of War intact, and those were quickly disassembled and the goblins scattered to the mountains with their toys.
BOOM! Hur hur hur...
