Forgottenlor's Monster Madness

original thread ↗

This isn't a classic Gnoblog, because I'm not starting a new army. Rather I'm stocking up on my old armies. I spent most of this fall repainting my lizardmen, but since my camera was broken, hadn't been able to post any pictures until now (actually I had my skinks up in May or so). I've also been working on my vampires. In fact right now I'm finishing up my black knights, which are tomb kings horsemen with my first self sculpted anything (in this case armour, thanks to suggestions from Corai and Manowar), and I hope to end soon. I'd consider myself a rather amatuer painter and modeller and anything which I can learn from more experienced and talented members would be greatly appreciated. icon_smile

This Gnoblog will start with my redone Slaan Lord Tolec. Tolec has seen many battles, always in the midst of his temple guard and flinging magic missles left and right. He has only lost 2 battles (most recently to Assimilation's high elves). Tolec is carried about by the jungle vines and they also bring about the remanents of his dead enemies. I took 3 pictures of him, but I can't downloard 2 of him, so here is the 3rd:

I play cheese. Don't like it, well tough. It's the game! It just bugs me that players spend time complaining about rules instead of learning to use them to their advantage or to defend against them.

Here are 2 of my Kroxigore. As they work as miners they have scales which are a mixture of grey and green, so they still look somewhat similar to the rest of my army, but also appear as if they spend much of there time underground. I usually run 2-3 units and they make up the backbone of my army along with my skinks.

According to the lizardmen book, kroxigore are bred for hard labor. They are recruited in war time though due to their strength. Saurus warriors are bred for war. Considering the make up of most current lizardmen armies, one would guess otherwise. icon_neutral Hopefully this changes once the new book comes out in February. icon_smile Somehow though, I'm afraid it won't icon_frown Woe to thee, poor saurus warrior. icon_cry

Oh icon_smile thanks for clearing that up icon_smile I love the kroxigor, but the old models (and the coming soon ones) just don't please me icon_smile They are a bit rubbish icon_smile I'll see though, when they finally arrive in my local gaming store icon_smile

I guess its a matter of taste. I like the current ones (though not the upcoming ones) It seems players really like them or really dislike them.

I especiallylikethe grey/grenish skin tone on the kroxies, it´s a nice change (I´m getting sick of seeing all blue kroxigors icon_biggrin )

Pity you couldn´t get the two pics of the Slaan up icon_frown

I´m eager to see more when it comes icon_smile

Then I will make another photo. icon_smile

In the meantime I'll put up some of my saurus warriors. I must say these are some of my favorite plastic models. They decided me for lizardmen. Unfortunately I've all but abandoned using them. My saurus warriors usually rout if charged and are too slow to charge themselves in most cases. I'm hoping with the new rules they'll see some more use. Like my other lizardmen they have a natural theme to them and are supposed to blend into the jungle. I did realize how much my self made push tray was falling apart until I saw it close up in this picture. icon_wink

the saurus look cool as well icon_smile
I still like the kroxies skin tone a tiny bit more, but that doesn´t lower the quality of saurus in any way. What I like is tht they look so plain. I mean, it´s exactly the look I would like to have if I were to fight in a jungle, so it is a great fluffy thing icon_wink

And I fully agree with them being great minis (in my warhammer beginnings,I was also torn between lizardmen and Orcs, mostly because the lizzies got those scary looking blocks of saurus foot sloggers icon_smile )
