so the nomination are in and it's tim to start voting for who the Ogre Stronghold members want to award the coveted title of Hobby Hero to this year.

Category 5 - Most helpful member, is one of the most hotly contested categories. We get a number of nominations for plenty of members who have each been helpful to other members of the Stronghold, and this speaks volumes about the quality of community we have here. All the Stronghold members should be proud to be part of a community so rich in helpful individuals, but the following nominees should be truly commended for standing out as exceptional maongst a sea of excellence.

1:Stonedog
Our resident Derrick Trotter; If you need something, chances are Stonedog has it, and is willing to trade with a smile on his face! Stonedog has helped countless armies and models see completion this year through well organised, polite and helpful trades in the Gnoblar market. More than that, he brings the same comitted level of helpfullness to the rest of the stronghold as well. He's always willing to lend a hand with questions and queries and this is evident in his recieving a nomination here this year

2: Wildcard
It's hard coming up with new praise for Wildcard year after year without winding up repeating myself! There are, afterall, only so many ways to say 'helpful'! No matter the query or problem, Wildcard is always around to offer support and an answer. In his role as a moderator, he helps to keep the stronghold itself running and is constantly on hand to help in both the public and private areas of the Stronghold. And somewhere, in between reading every post on the forum, and replying where he can, he manages to find time to convert and paint other members models as gifts from the Weird House!

3: Lexy
One of our smal core of dedicated tournament goers, Lexy is one of the best we have to offer advice and tips when asked about a number of armies (having played with or against pretty much all of them!) He's one of the most active members in the Rules Questions and FAQ's board, a section of the site built entirely upon the premise of one member helping another. But it would be narrow minded to assume Lexy's helpful contribution are limited only to rules questions, he is an active member in nearly all segments of the website and offers tips, answers and support wherever nescessary (his willingnessto put in the time and effort required to pull of the King of the Maw arena of death a clear example of this)

4:Reg06
The other dedicated moderator on our list of nominees. It was only relatively recently that Reg joined the ranks of the moderators, but his approach the site has bairly changed since, clear evidence of the degree of devotion and helpfullness he had even before it became his 'job'. Reg is always around to offer advice and help, always going =above and beyond the call of duty to get people all the help they need, and no-one's better at helping to keep the Forum's clean by eradicating the foul scourge of threadomancy ;)

So there you have the nominees. A really diffiuclt choice this year. Each nominee has distnguished themselves as exceptionally helpful individuals who make the day to day life of the Ogre Stronghold easier by their participation. They're all already winners in my opinion!

The polls will stay open until 20th December at which point we will crown this year's Hobby Heroes!

Thanks
Corai

Reg06 is amazing, but since I've joined, I haven't seen him very often. Wildcard beats him due to the fact he posts on every thread that could use his advice, and is constantly vigilant in patrolling the boards.
BOOM! Hur hur hur...

Proud leader of the Ironskin Tribe.
tough choice, really.
I´ll say Reg06, for all the reasons Corai stated in the first post of this thread.
Plus, we can´t just let Wildcard win everything :D (just kidding)

Well that's why we play games of luck, to get repeatedly affirmed that the universe just wants to punch us in the face.

Reg06

Da Green Menace (31 played): Wins:15 (6 massacres)   Draws:3   Losses:13 (6 massacres)
The Rockhide Tribe (Ogre Kingdoms): Wins:7 (3 massacres)  Draws:2  Losses:10 (4 massacre)

The Rockhide Tribe. Now in Color!
StoneDog wins it for me :) Every army of mine has swollen dude to his trades :) He has helped me start new armies (And systems!), add to old armies, and taken models off my hands that would've otherwise just collected dust :D Not only that, but his contribution to threads is always valid, and much appreciated, and his fluff is always awesome :) Also, should I ever need a 40k query answered, he'll be the guy to ask :)

All you other guys deserve the nomination as well, but I can't vote for all of ya now, can I ;)

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

This and the tactics is not a hard decision: Trapper Wildcard  :D
Winner Last Man Standing II Princess Kosima Neferher of Lybaras (daughter of High Queen Khalida)
Runner up Last Man Standing Grollorg the Greedy Hand (slain by Scroth Skullrippa's Scalf)
Former King of the Maw Sho 'Lurrp IX. (assassinated)
Former King of the Maw Tusar III. (slain by Barney's Khor´garahut)

I love how StoneDog is compaired to Del Boy!!

Mr06 is always there offering advice, sometimes it's straight to the point but is honest, which is something that I admire.
Well done with all the hard work you put in and the welcoming of new members.

Well done and good luck to all nominees!

I really haven't been on as much as I would like this past year.

But seriously, it was a tough call for me between Lexy and WC. In the end I chose one though, and I can't say what got Lexy my vote over WC.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

I voted for Lexy. His timely, curt and often very funny comments are very helpful on a deep level and generally very nice in my eyes.
