Hello,

I have been wandering around these forums for quite a while now, just after I bought the Ogre batallion.
I decided to make a gnoblog. As I'm a pretty slow painter (painting allot of skaven made me start to dislike painting), I hope this gnoblog will keep me motivated to keep painting so it won't take 4 years to paint 75% of my army  .
I am currently working on fluff, all I can say for now is that my Tribe is named The Boiling Blood Tribe and is led by tyrant Borgus Manchewer.

I've finished 4 bulls so far, I'm a bit ashamed to post the pics as I'm really not that good of a painter compared to what I see here in the stronghold 

Don't worry, just because half of the gnoblogs are Corai's doesn't mean we all paint like him - I'm a slow and terrible painter compared to him too

Ok, the pictures turned out horribly, might be the camera or it might be the settings. Or I'm just no good at taking pictures . I'll try to get better pics asap, if anyone has any tips on how to best takes pictures of miniatures or what settings to use, their more then welcome!

what camera do you use?.. you should take a white sheet on the wall so the background will be white and then put the models there.. hmm can you take 1 picture far away to see that how bad the camera quality is?

Its a shame this gnoblog is being slowed down/stopped because of the bad pictures 

Is it a digital camera you are using? You are best served by taking photos using macro mode. This is usually denoted by a flower icon. If you search macro and the model of your camera on the internet, you should be able to find a guide specific to that camera.

When in macro mode, the photo will be very sensitive to movement, so propping it on something solid usually improves photo quality unless you have an extremely steady hand.

Flash should be avoided if you can get decent lighting, as it washes out photos and makes the details of the model hard to see.

They are finished but the pics don't really show much of the skin etc =/, I'll work on trying to find a solution.

I have 5 bulls done now, still trying to find the ideal settings for some clear pictures, however. Fluff should be up tomorrow.

dont worry im just like you the most i can paint is 1 a day.

Finally got some more descent pictures up.





I gave my ogres a light skin tone, I always imagined them more that way rather then rock-ish (even tho they live in the mountains ). Remembers, I don't strive for perfection or anything when it comes to painting, don't have the patience for it. Its not up to the stronghold's standards, but I'm relatively happy with them.

The skin doesn't come out exactly how it is in RL tho

ahh those are really good models! .. if those were your first real bulls then youre pretty good painter dont worry you get better when you paint more! then you can redo your bulls!

I really like the gut plates, cool bronze look.  If your unhappy with the skin tone you could always experiment with some of the new washes.  they are really easy to use and they would add a bit more depth to the recesses of the skin.  Keep us updated.

Hello, a small update for this blog and I hope I will be able to update it on a more regular basis now.
I got tired of painting evil sunz orks for a tale of 4 gamers (might post pics someday  ) so I decided to get my ogres out again, I really didn't like the skin on my current ogres(see previous pics) as its to bright and not detailed enough. Anyway I decided to try another skin and I'm pretty happy with the result (I usually go for tabletop quality so please keep that in mind).

What do you guys think? CC appreciated!

I think it looks pretty good. The pants are great, and the metal is looking pretty nice. But, the skin looks blotchy and not as well pulled off as the rest of the model.

I really like the tone, and it has a lot more depth than the previous ones.  Good job!

I like the pants and the metal but the skin seems to be missing something when compare to the two ... not sure what. Maybe a couple highlights? Hard to tell with the lighting in your pic.

I think you underestimate your abilities!  You have a nice neat style of painting.  Your metal is great, and I like your second take on the skin - the only thing I can suggest is to try to take your pictures next to a window letting in plenty of natural light.. then we'll be able to see better!

The skin was my first try so I hope I will be able to improve it.

Not quite sure, I have the habit to paint my entire army first and then work out how to base them, tips are always appreciated!

I like purple to, I'm thinking of using it as the colour to bind my army togheter (Ironguts would have purple war tattoos and different colour pants).
