Ok, thought I'd have a go at making my own gnoblog after having a good read through some of the excellent work on this site. A little background first, I was an avid whfb and 40k player with my brother in my youth (3rd and 4th ed fb) but stopped playing and collecting altogether once I left home and headed to uni. 10 years later, my little brother is expecting a baby and because they can't afford to go out much, his wife to be buys him the Dwarf batallion boxed set so he can have fun painting it. This grabs my attention slightly as I had a large dwarf force once which is still somewhere in my mums loft.
A few months later, my dad (who is into napoleonics) and my brother are heading to the world wargaming championship in Derby and I decide to go along with them. Once there, I see all the trade stands with the lovely new GW plastics and decide (much to the chagrin of my wife!) that maybe I should get a small army to have a few games with my brother, and his partner who bought herself a DE box set, when they come to visit. With this in mind I scoured the stands for an army, wanting one that I had never owned before. I toyed for a while with the undead, nearly buying VC's, and lizardmen but decided to keep looking. It was then that I saw the OK batallion box. "Can I REALLY have a whole army of them these days?" I asked. I was sold, a whole army of monsters, and less models to paint, what could be better than that! And so Gutreth's Villans were born....
Gutreth's Villans are a small but expanding tribe who live in the dangerous Holte End pass near the lake of eyes. Led by their tyrant, Gutreth Barry, the Villans take to the field of battle daubed in bright claret and blue warpaint. They are a particularly bad tempered tribe (even for ogres) and have a particular dislike of the dwarfs, who they see as nothing more than a light snack.
So far I have the batallion boxed set, made up pretty much as standard. I have taken my brushes out of retirement and just about finished my first bull which I will post some pictures of tonight when I can get my camera working. I'll update this as my army grows and my painting skills improve! Hope you enjoy

The only bonus was my unit of 2 LBs rolling 16 hits against the longbeards and despatching 3 of them. I guess its back to the drawing board, I just can't see how I can take them out!
