Returning player

original thread ↗

Hi everyone, I am essentially a noob as I am returning to Warhammer after a 10 year hiatus, mainly due to my brother picking up the game again. Despite having several armies from various past incarnations of the game, I decided to collect a new army using new miniatures. Basically I had a look at all the battallion boxes and plumped for ogres, basically because they were a new army for me (didn't exist as a force on their own right when I used to play) and I loved the models, especially as with fewer troops I can really go to town with the painting.

My question is, I have made up the boxed set as 6 bulls, 4 Guts, 4 LB's and 24 Gnoblars. I have also converted a Golgarth model I picked up to use a bruise. What should I purchase next to add to my force and in what order. I was thinking of A butcher, then some more Guts/Bulls (not sure which) then maybe a scrap launcher or some gorgers. I will mainly be playing my bro who has dwarves and his wife who has Dark Elves. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Iron Guts over Bulls and check this website for different Army builds, this depends on how many points you intend playing.

Most Tournies are around 2250pts.

You'll need butchers (three should do), but you can get those from a bull box. You'll also need more ironguts. And then a few more. Two gorgers would also be a very good thing to have, and possibly, if you like the feel of them, yhetees. And then maybe a couple ironguts.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

Take whatever you think looks cool and sounds fun (aka the Slavegiant). The Scraplauncher is also a nice addition for taking on those Dark Elves. I personally think two Butchers is sufficient for 2250pts, so converting a Bruiser to accompany some Bulls (who are not very dependable) or some Ironguts (who are a quite a bit better).
