New ogres - Goldtooth tribe

original thread ↗

Hello all

After a few posts here and there I thought I'd finally start up a gnoblog to show what I've been doing. I thought about going for one of the tribes in the book and finally settled on the Goldtooth tribe. Hey, I like the Greasus model!

I'm currently working on my two units of Ironguts...

Can't wait for you to make some head-way and post up your first pics :)

I love the Goldtooth tribe ;) And the Greasus model :D But we're probably some of the only ones who do :P

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

I'm not sure whether this will work, but here's the first picture of the Ironguts. More to follow!

Looking really, really impressive :) The skin is okay (looks a little flat...), the gold is good, the blood is excellent! :) Really fresh-looking and gruesome :)

That may be in part down to my (lack of) camera skills and lighting! The faces do seem quite highlighted when I've painted them, but I admit they look a bit flat in the photo. Hmmn.

Anyway, thanks for the comments - I'll try and have some better photos up in a while!

Lookin' good! The skin looks good, although a little dull, and you've done a great job on the armour. Keep it coming!

And this is my first Maneater conversion. Simple, but I'm really happy how he turned out.

I'm currently thinking about how I can make the Ironguts seem more 'Goldtooth' tribe. Any suggestions?

The other thing I'm currently pondering is the model bases - I'm not too sure as to what would complement the skin tone the best at the moment...

You could always paint their teeth gold if you haven't already (not clearly evident from the pictures)... :)

If you have, how about a tooth tattoo somewhere about their person?

This is the second bull I've been working on. I've given him a couple of tooth tattoos on his arm!

Hi there,

I really like the models you've painted so far. As you already said, the maneater  is simple but effective, and i really like the colour scheme.  Looks a bit Khorneish.  I also like to greasus model, so look forward to you painting him. He has some awesome special rules, albeit a points cost to match.
With regards to making the tribe standout, the use of relevant tattoos, gold teeth (as already mentioned) and added bling immediately come to mind.  Also use of accesories as found on the paymaster maneater http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99060213017&orignav=13
would look good, treasure chests and the like. Although it's hard to imagine standard ogres getting much loot when greasus is around.  Think about what ogres would do with lots of gold...my guess is buy food and weapons, to maybe make them fat and greedy looking (like greasus like tribe  :) )

Looking forward to more pics,

Rik

One Gnoblar .....and a Butcher

Check my gnoblog, feedback welcome  ^_^

Thanks for the advice Rik! The local store has a big communal 'bitz box', so I'm going to have a scavenge next week and see what I can find.

I guess I should get round to posting what army list I usually go with.

At the moment I'm running a 2k list which looks somewhat like this:

Tyrant - Tenderizer, Wyrdstone Necklace, HA, Luck Gnoblar
Butcher - Bangstick, Dispel
Butcher - 2 Dispels
Butcher - Siegebreaker

3 Bulls, Bellower
3 Bulls, Bellower
3 Ironguts, Bellower
3 Ironguts, Bellower

2 Leadbelchers
3 Yhetees

3 Maneaters, Great Weapons, HA
Gorger

The tattoos look great, glad you liked the idea ;)

The list looks fine, albeit a little small - most people would argue about the bulls and that you don't have enough ironguts but I'm a believer in bulls. The only thing I don't like is the third maneater and the two leadbelchers. Three maneaters can be overkill considering how fast they're killed - you can expect them to get all of enemy's attention. And only one unit of leadbelchers is usually extremely unreliable - their reliability goes up exponentially with every additional unit.

My siegebreaker butcher. I greenstuffed the tongue and belly and a bit of skin for him to store his knife in on the back and I'm really happy generally with how he turned out. I think I'm going to try and darken the stone on the weapon to look a bit more obsidian like, to fit in with the item description in the book.

I also tried to strap on a load of accessories to fit in with the 'walking larder' idea!

Comments, as always, are appreciated!

Thanks very much!

Just to keep people notified, I'm working on my second unit of Ironguts, this time with purple trousers.

I'm also putting together some Lizardmen Cold One riders at the moment and picks of them may just find their way on here...!

This is the purple trousered Irongut I've been working on - I've properly based him too, with a few bigger rocks and some static grass.

Purple is looking awesome :) It's probably my favourite colour to paint, because it is probably the easiest colour to paint IMHO :)

My first unit of bulls based and ready to go. I'm going to add a few more bits and bobs to the bases, perhaps some skulls, enemy weapons and enemy heads.
