hello, after half a year no warhammer it started to draw my attention back, and so i bought some paints, armybook and a vampire countsd bataillon! so now im ready to start a gnoblog, pictures are up in a sec. armylist:
vampire lord, 435 summon ghouls the crown of the damned forbidden lore flying horror flayed hauberk tomb blade magic level 3 the occasional lord, joins the unit of skeletons.
necromancer 105 2 dispell scrolls scroll caddie, joins the unit skeletons
wight king 137 wristband of black gold skeletal steed barding lance heavy armor shield this one joins the black knights as an extra punchy guy
corpse cart 75 just cos i like him and he proved my worthy before
20 crypt ghouls 168 ghast its kinda like my secon main unit at the moment, planning to raise these some more before they charge.
29 skeleton warriors306 full command banner of the endless nightmare spears my first main unit, being joined by the necro and lord i think dis one is hard to break.
5 dire wolves 40 just the fast cavalerie every army needs
20 zombies 80 cannonfeed!
5 black knights 215 full command royal standard of strigos barding my hard hitter, for those other pesky knights/large creatures
4 spirit hosts 260 these are to annoy the enemy to put them in front of a non-magical attack unit to drwa some attention.
3 cairn wraiths banshee just to cry to lords and stuff, just for fun ^^
i am plannig to build my army as cheap as possible, so if anyone has ideas to make cheap ghouls, or any awesome idea on kick-ass unit fillers, share your idea.

I can't comment on the list (no real experience with current Vamps) but for unit fillers, I've seen some great ones featuring a single empire mini (usualyl a witch hunter or warrior priest - which are pretty easy and cheap to scrounge up) stood on a tomb or something, flaming torch in hand, fending off the horde of kellies or zombies around him. If you imagine them stepping back from the reach of his weapon you can usally fill a fair bit of the middle of a unit with one of these
thanks Corai

I am quite shocked that you have omitted the majorit-dictated-compulsory choice, a unit of Blood Knights Strange, but they cost a bomb, both points-wise, and financially

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.
And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

@ corai, thnx, i think ive seen one done by curse of beers over at twf, wit an awesome soure lightning.
@ justjosh, well, i don't really like the blood knights, they're ay to expensive financial. and below 2000 points your not gonna use them. firstly i am working towards my 2000 points list, and after that ill see what i add to get at 3000.

Financially, I agree completely From a game perspective though, they really are a bit of a no-brainer Absolute beasts really

i think black knights are great but i dnt see you fairing well in the magic phase, most vamp list run 2 or 3 vampires. and ghouls i think are more effective then skeletons.
ulruk headsplitter17 Aug 2008
@bulldog, i wasn't planning on having a magic heaby army, but however, i could replace the wight king by a normal vampire. and to have 4 heroes in 2000 points is a bit to much.
also, i could use some ideas for ghoul unit fillers, at the moment i have only 10 ghouls, but i wanna have 20. so if somebody could give me some clues about filling up the unit, i would be very pleased. at the moment i am working on the attacked witch hunter idea unit filler, but i dont have a witch hunter or warrior priest, any stand in possibilities? maybe some kind of treasure steeler trying to rob the mausolem's (sorry for my bad english, but try to make the best of it:P)

For the unit fillers, have you thought of the corpse of a big-thing, like an ogre or even better a giant or other big monster, being feasted upon by aload of ghouls? And for the skellies and zonbies, just do the 'hands clawing out of the ground' thing, i know its been done to death, but its cheap
Another idea thats just occured to me, how about like a dead tree, with different corpses hanging off of it, in different stages of resurection? I know a tree can't move, but it would still look quite cool!

That would look sweet corpse cart. An army i saw at my local store had big rocks and stuff that he had mutliple skeletons, or u could use ghouls, crawling and climbing and standing on them.
ulruk headsplitter17 Aug 2008
@ warplockmonkey, well, i actually have some kind of small-ish version of the tree hanging, kind of like an executed guy, being hung and by years his lower body has fallen off:P about the hand sticking out of the ground idea, maybe i coul kind like use some normal fellas at the back of the unit, who are being grabbed by their legs with arms that stick out of the ground.
@bulldog, im not sure what you mean with this post (not meant offended, just can't read what it is:P) but of course my english sucks so that could also be the problem

hello, finally some pics up, tell me what you think of the conversions, and the idea behind it:P first up necromancer, unknown skeleton and crypt ghoul ghast: a very wip skeleton unit filler, i am trying to make him look like he's flying, kinda like in a pose santa's would be in his sled. corpse cart, please note that he needs 3 more pulling zombies were im working on now. and finally, my unit black knights, kinda special. i am looking forward to painting these. i am gonna try to only paint the cold ones undead, cause i just love these models this way. if anyone has idead for this?
requests for pics will be answered, however, not before friday due to vacation, ill have internet over there so i can still answer questions and stuff.

Great stuff. Is that a skeleton riding a ghoul?

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

it kind of is, it is the ghast model, it has half a skeleton on its back, however, it's supposed to be armless, but i felt sorry for him so gave him some arms to fight and defend ^^ atm im working on the skeleton unit filler, i know it is big (12 skeletons) but im only gonna use it in friendly games. as for the warrior priest/witch hunter idea, i canceled it instead made a high elf archer shooting at a charging skeleton. the skeleton has an arrow through it's body, just how it would be in real life if he went between his ribs.

Warboss Bogoff17 Aug 2008
are you going to add other dark elf themes to your army? a zombie hydra would rock so much lol and add some witch elves as unit fillers fighting the zombies/skeletons etc
"i dont do small armies"
ulruk headsplitter18 Aug 2008
@ khorgoth corpseheart, actually, i used the old 6th edition hudra as an abyssal terror (but only with one head and 1 horseleg(don't ask me why)
ill try to get some pics up but i am not guarantying it.
