Highwaymen, Full Background

Origins

Long ago, when Greasus was a young Ogre, he had only one true Ogre ally. This ally was known as Big Boss.
Tall as they came, and could wrestle any Tyrant to the ground, but Big Boss did not let this unprecedented power go to his head like most Ogres. Greasus looked to Big Boss as a mentor, they would travel miles together, looking for any fatigued wanderers to have a light meal here and there.
One day on their normal walks, three Ogres sat feeding on a pair of old nags. They appeared to be hostiles, probably from another tribe the two guessed. And of course, Big Boss single headedly destroyed the three of them, and feasted on the nags laid out for them. Yet while Big Boss sat happily eating from the horses breast bone, Greasus decided to have a walk and see if any squirmy halflings or dwarves were near by. And upon doing so found a great cache of gold; quickly looking around he stuffed the gold into any available crevice and hole his trousers could hold. In the distance, while gathering his fortunes, he heard Boss shouting out for him. Looking to the floor, he saw large a meat clever. Bending down he took it.
“Where the bloody ‘ell you bin?” asked Boss, Greasus did not reply. He walked with heavy feet behind Boss who was back into his meal. BANG the meat clever struck Boss on the head with so much power that it knocked him clean out, and further down the line, resulting in his left eye loosing all use.

Guerrilla

The famed Tyrant went by the name of Greasus Goldtooth. His wealth touched nearly every Ogre territory and tribe possible. Regular tributes from tribes came, and even the mighty Orc’s and Dwarves local to him paid a small price.
The mountain trails were the only ones that you didn’t need to pay a toll to his name; this is where his old friend lay hidden. They were well protected by Ironguts, who did regular hikes, and sometimes even had the company of a Slavegiant. But a little band of Ogres who disliked this almost totalitarian idea of Greasus’s joined under Boss’s ideal. This Ogre betrayed him when he thought he was a good ally, yet the power of greed goes along way in most Ogres.
Boss had rallied together about sixty Ogres, small in size to some tribes, but all were brilliant fighters, and they were outcastes by their tribes Tyrant for being a threat; obviously good candidates to overpower their rule.
They fought with just cause, every time a payload or supply was heading to Greasus, these revolutionist Ogres would strike, taking everything. And each time they struck, Greasus was unaware that his old mentor was behind these attacks!

Rebuild

One day a caravan of Greasus’s was leaving his tribe. Boss knew exactly what the prize was this time. Protected by over one hundred Ogres, Greasus was going on a trip to the coast. Leaving his highly paid, mercenaries to defend his rule.
Boss watched carefully as the caravans rolled down the uneven ground; sending his Leadbelchers into position, he prepared for an ambush.
BANG, BANG! Swords, cannonballs and spears filled the sky to the left of the caravans. The raining of death came swift! Ogres were hit with such accuracy and power; it caused a domino effect on a few of them, one falling after the other. About thirteen were killed. This evened the odds for Boss. Giving a loud way cry (and a slapping of the gut) he and his armed brethren ran from cover and down to meet their enemy.
Greasus saw the eye-patched menace approaching, to fat to doing anything but watch as the Ogres slammed into one another; blood, guts and glory flew up high.
Boss was cleaving left and right; a Slavegiant moved locked onto him, but quickly pulling his pistol from his he fired. The lead broke through the giant’s skull and rendered him useless.
Heavily outnumbered the battle was in Greasus’s favour, but Boss still fought on…

Every Ogre in the land heard of the Boss’s great fight, and they knew he lived on. Today his raids are less frequent, yet many more Ogres’ have come to replace the ones he lost. Never knowing where the Boss will strike from, he and his Ogre’s have become known as the “Highwaymen” that nearly won
Nice work again, Eddoo! I like the whole betrayal backstory, and the idea of revolutionary ogre bandits sounds really promising. Are the highwaymen painted up yet? If so, post pics soon.
yes, they are fully painted, but as of yet they look like plain ogres. but i am planning on making a few additions to them to make the whole highwayman theme run in the army..any suggestions?
...for some reason I keep picturing sombreros, ponchos and bandoliers- maybe a few chomping on cigars. Would be pretty unique, but it might be tricky to keep them from looking too silly. I guess if samurai ogres can work, bandito ogres could work too.
yeah, i was planning on making a banner with the character V, from V for Vendetta on. As he was an outlaw figure based on guy falkes.
i was gunna give my lead belchers cigars, and such, and try to make some feathered style hats to sit on their belts, and maybe as an actual head piece.
